It’s been forever since a Halo game was released on the PC. Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo Reach and Halo 4 have all come and gone, without a PC version in sight. So it’s clear that if fans of the series want a game on their personal computers, they’re going to have to make it themselves.
Which is exactly what these guys are doing.
Project Contingency is the name given to an all-new Halo game being made using Crytek’s CryEngine 3. Over 20 devs, many of them industry veterans, are working on it, and while it’s still early days — as you can tell from that video — the scale of the project has me optimistic this won’t just be another case of “awesome fan game gets announced then is never finished”.

Well, colour me impressed.
As a huge Halo nerd(easily my favourite franchise), I’m actually really looking forward to this, really has potential.
You mean this won’t just be another case of the IP owner swoops in and destroys the project.
Well, on the plus side, Gearbox
backpedalled‘clarified their advice’ on the Duke3D remake being able to be released under a non-commercial licence. Now sure, we’re talking about Microsoft here, but hopefully their PR people will get to them before Legal does.I REALLY wouldn’t be surprised if the PR folks at Microsoft are insisting that ANY gaming-related action that makes it into the top ten pages of a google search has to be checked with a PR person first, at the moment. That reputation can’t take much more damage.
How come the screen keeps tossing my wallet back at me?
Yay for PC love!
