A Rare, Fascinating Look Behind The Scenes Of The Next Final Fantasy

Square Enix, in an effort to both educate and entertain fans, has released the first episode of what is going to be a web documentary series chronicling the making of Lightning Returns, the upcoming sequel to Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Narrated by Lightning’s voice actress, Ali Hillis, the introductory episode of “Inside the Square” focuses on the game’s characters, exploring their motivations and the various relationships that exist between them. The team also talks about the franchise’s history, and what they have done to make the game and its world as appealing as possible to players both old and new.

It’s an interesting watch, so if you’ve got seven minutes to spare, you should definitely take a look. Of course, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is still slated to hit PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 21 in Japan, and next year in the West — on February 11, 13 and 14 in North America, Europe and Australia respectively. If you’d like to know more about how the game plays, you can read our hands-on impressions here.
