Oh, wow, Sony just announced that Minecraft is a launch game for PlayStation 4. The blocky crafting game has been printing ridiculous amounts money on PC and Xbox 360, so this is a natural next move.
It’s also coming to Xbox One at some point.
UPDATE: And PS3, and Vita, Minecraft creator Markus Persson says on Twitter.

What I learned from this article: Minecraft is the BEST VITA AND PS3 LAUNCH TITLE EVER
While I certainly don’t think this announcement ships a single extra console, it is good news for Playstation owners who couldn’t previously get the game.
It’s cool!
Minecraft on Vita could work incredibly well. Pretty happy about this.
don’t worry guys… The Xbox One edition of Minecraft remains exclusive to Xbox One.

Dammit, I was hoping I’d be able to get the Xbox One edition on my PS3… you bastards.
Who was worried? Exclusive doesn’t mean much as time goes by and considering that the Xbox One version seems to be more about the Xbox One than about Minecraft I don’t see why people would even get upset. You can play other games while Minecraft runs, friends can visit your world while away etc These features can be just as easily added to the PS4/Vita versions without Microsoft being able to do a thing about it.
Vita gets Starbound too in 2014 !!!!
The main point of my post was the absurdity of proclaiming that a version of the game is exclusive to the system. It would be the same as if there was to be some exclusive content available on the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghost (which I have no doubt there will, timed or otherwise) and because of this Microsoft proclaims that their version of Call of Duty is an Xbox One exclusive. While technically true, it doesn’t change the fact that the vast majority of the game will be identical to the versions available on every other console.
The same is true for Minecraft, Microsoft could proclaim their version of Minecraft comes with ‘Xbox One exclusive content’ and be in the right, but saying that the Xbox One edition of Minecraft is exclusive to Xbox One despite the vast majority of it being identical to versions released or to be released on practically every other gaming platform available (with the noted exception of Nintendo platforms) seems a bit dishonest.
It makes me so happy to see Minecraft doing so well and being so embraced by pretty much everyone who touches it.
Minecraft is a excellent game, and whilst it loses some of the difficulty on consoles (crafting menus etc.) this is still a really good endeavor especially as it reduces this whole war over console exclusivity.
I want to get a PS4 – but I am looking at the exclusives to seal the deal. if the xbox one version has better features – as a family console – the 360 did hundreds of hours of the kids & myself in 4 player Co-op (“come on kids – keep awake – theres an ender dragon to kill!!”)
It could be the decsion maker for my household
If they can ever catch up with the PC version, I’ll buy.
Mod Support for VITA version or even Ps3/ps4 version would be nice, but i dont think that will come, if it did someone could write a mod that exploits the system opening it up to CFW
I am stunned how much support the Vita gets in spite of its low sales – I would have thought Minecraft a perfect fit for the 3DS
Ease of publishing. Sony seems to have gone on the offensive of late to attract small developers to the Vita and PS4.
Starbound was also announced for Vita today which has met the same elation and rage as most these sorts of announcements
Vita. Now. Gimme.
