Not All New Skylanders Split In Half — Some Are Sabretooth Turtles

More of a sabretooth turtle dinosaur, I suppose. This is Slobber Tooth, and he’s one of the latest non-splitting Skylanders champions, joining the fray when Swap Force hits October 13.

The whole Swap Force mechanic is nice and all, but I’m a sucker for a well-designed one piece with a focus on function. I had a chance to play Slobber Tooth during a recent demo of the upcoming game, and his raw power distracted me from the two-parters quite handily. Of all the new single Skylanders I’ve seen, he’s my second favourite.

His toy looks like this:

His in-game video vignette/advertisement looks like this:

And his bio reads like this:

“Clobber and Slobber!”

Having been asleep for thousands of years, Slobber Tooth was awakened by the fiery eruption of two volcanic islands crashing together. Immediately sought out by Kaos to become one of his minions, Slobber Tooth was promised great power. But the gruff and headstrong fighter chose to follow his own path instead. For this, Kaos attacked his ancient petrified homeland. As the only one who could protect his hibernating race, Slobber Tooth fought tooth and tail against Kaos and his minions, ultimately driving them away. For his heroism, Master Eon asked Slobber Tooth to join the Skylanders, where he could continue defending Skylands against the evil Kaos.

Good old Kaos, making friends everywhere he goes. Instead of just letting the freaking dinosaur be, he goes the extra mile to tick it off, making it one of his mortal enemies. Good plan.

Slobber Tooth will be hitting store shelves this October, when Skylanders: Swap Force drops for the Wii U, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360 and 3DS. He’ll probably still be around when the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions drop as well. He’s tenacious like that.
