“Someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill ’em right back!” Firefly — Joss Whedon’s beloved cult sci-fi TV series that spun out in the film Serenity — may not be all the way dead. This teaser from Dark Horse Comics is a big hint that the publisher’s getting ready to tease Browncoats with new adventures for Mal and crew. Excited?

So… will they introduce Washes brother like Whedon said he was going to originally or…
You know, the other comics were a bit of a let down (especially Shepard Book’s story)
I’m just not sure that it can work without the original actors
now if was a motion comic with the original cast’s voice overs? That could be something!
really? i thought the Shepard’s story was amazing….. the rest a bit lacklustre but that one was great IMO.
I guess I just didn’t think it was believable. Remember in series the episode where Book gets shot and treated by an Alliance medical team only thanks to his mysterious Ident-card?
In the comic he has that card because we was an Officer in the Alliance millitary, ok, but while serving he organised a failed operation that his commanding officer called “the single greatest disaster in alliance history” resulting in a few thousand deaths (not all of which were soldiers) and him being dishonorably discharged by way of escape pod into space!
I find it hard to believe he would have been given life saving medical treatment and allowed to go on his way rather than shot (again) on sight. Why is his Identcard even still valid after being discharged?
its been a while since i’ve read it, but i was fairly certain that he was one of the alliance’s greatest generals/soldier’s prior to that?
The ident card wouldn’t be valid, but at the very least would still have the info on who he “was”, and being someone that made 1 mistake, even if the worst in the war, he was still a decorated soldier and hero to many Alliance members… its one of those situations where maybe the captain of the alliance cruiser was a friend from back in the day…. maybe im reading to much into it… but that’s how i read it.
I guess I could make that leap. I’m sure its just another one of those story ideas they didn’t get to explore properly in the shows run, like the Blue Sun Corporation. The Shepherd’s Tale might make perfect sense but i think its missing some bridging details in order to make it click for me.
I guess any Firefly is good Firefly but i think the series would better suit an animated movie like the Riddick movie Dark Fury. Something that showcases the great soundtracks the show did so well, it’d also be awesome to hear the actors doing voice work
Not to be down on comics… But no tv series or movie?
As far as I’m concerned the movie Serenity killed any chance of that ever happening. It’s not Firefly without Wash and Booker.
Serenity is cannon in the same way the air bender movie is cannon: It never happened.
Disagree but it’s easy enough to continue the series and set it before the movie.
The movie wasn’t really cannon.
In what way? It was made by Joss Whedon, featured the original cast and crew…exactly who makes it canon if not the original creator and participants?
Man I actually liked the movie. It got me into the series.
No reason why they couldn’t stick it in between.
Book, not Booker (unless there’s an awesome Firefly/Bioshock Infinite crossover).
The actors by now have aged very considerably. It would be challenging to even get them all back together at this point.
Just love it for what it was, rather than trying to revive the dead.
exactly
Some of them have found greener pastures working for Pearson Darby Spectre or as psycho govt assassins living in dollhouses, or as highly successful novelists of serial killer books
Agreed. It took me a while to come around to this way of thinking, but now I’m kind of glad that everything we got from Firefly/Serenity was great. There were no bad episodes, no filler or flashback episodes, just a really solid run that I still watch all the way through at least once a year.
I’d rather be here looking back fondly and wishing there were more than looking back on a series I used to love but stopped watching somewhere in the middle. There are at least 5 seasons of Stargate that I’m never going to get around to watching.
Oh that title was just cruel and misleading,
So its back.. in comic form
Remember Alf? He’s back! In pog form.
Why are all my comments getting moderated?
Have you recently had a post that got a lot of negative votes? If so, that’s why… it will go away after a while..
I get this occasionally when my opinion differs from the majority 🙂 hehe.. I don’t care.. it’s my opinion.. I’m never trying to troll.. it just happens to be contrary to the majority *shrugs*
I’d be more excited if it were a game… It’s great to see that this franchise is getting some well deserved love but I really would like a game.
