Tales of Link is the name of the newest entry in the long-standing JRPG series, according to a teaser site recently put up by Namco Bandai. The game hits Japan this year, and will be available on both iOS and Android as a free-to-play title with in-app purchases.

This isn’t ‘the next Tales game’. It’s just a Tales-based phone game. They’ve been doing this for nearly a decade – there’s been many different Tales of Mobile games before for example. There’s also heaps of spinoff stuff – what Namco refers to as ‘Escort’ titles. Tales of the World, Tales of Fandom, Tales of Vs etc – heck, even Tales of the Tempest which was originally a full-fledged game turned out to be so crap it got downgraded to side-game status.
