Disney Infinity comes out a week from today with a host of characters from your favourite Disney franchises. Today at the D23 Fan Expo, eleven new characters and a new Toy Story in Space playset were announced. Look at all of familiar faces, hanging out together. That’s pretty awesome.
We’ve got Buzz Lightyear and Jessie coming in the game’s sixth play set — full games within the game — with Woody sold separately. There’s the first Disney Channel characters in Phineas and Agent P. The massive Wreck-It Ralph and the tiny Vanellope suggest tons of arcade-themed toys to play with. Jack Skellington from A Nightmare Before Christmas guarantees reformed goth girls and boys will be playing. Rapunzel from Tangled is the first Disney Princess to make the cut, and Anna and Elsa from the upcoming film Frozen bring some new blood to the table.
And then, of course, there is the king — Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey.
The new characters will start rolling out in October, when the new Toy Story set arrives, and keep coming through 2014.
But just look at that lineup. That is a kick-arse group of characters, and there are tons more where they came from.

Certainly they’ve got my attention now – but it is an uphill battle, to be honest, against the might of Skylanders. Im glad for the competition, but the high cost of entry is almost certainly going to put off any parent who has already got themselves quite the collection.

The difference between Skylanders and Infinity is that Disney have such an enormous backlog of characters that they can pick from, as opposed to Skylanders, it’s only a matter of time before the characters become stale in comparison.
And the possibility of adding Star Wars and Marvel characters down the line will only boost sales even further.
i hope they add studio gibli to the line up as disney are the ones who do the english dubs for Spirited away and Howls moving castle
