While You Were Sleeping

Morning everyone! I have woken up with a headache, which isn’t the best way to start the day, but whatever! Let’s get into it. This is what you missed While You Were Sleeping!

To be honest, it’s been pretty quiet, so now is as good a time to talk about Pokemon. (Yay?)

I love this project: its the first 151 Pokemon drawn by 151 different artists. It looks great. It also reminds me that I totally can’t draw. If I drew a Pokemon you would probably look at it and say… ‘um, that’s a lovely dinosaur you just drew Mark’. I would then scream, ‘NO DADDY IT’S A DOGGY’ and burst into tears.

Alright that got weird.

The Pokemon World Championships took place recently and there was a surprise winner. You can watch it all unfold here. Quite remarkable.

Despite the rampant piracy, the Chinese video game market continues to grow at a fantastic rate. Quickly enough, even, for one publisher to go global. It might seem crazy, considering just how insane the piracy is, but it’ll be interesting to see how it fares in this ‘unique’ environment.

This insane (read: silly) super expensive special edition for GRID 2 hasn’t sold yet. Unsurprising! And finally, the Studio Ghibli movie is receiving the most insanely widespread reactions. All over the joint. In Japan Miyazaki is being called a “traitor” but in South Korea people thing the movie is right wing! How does that work? I can’t wait to watch it and see what all the fuss is about.
