Call me crazy, but The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD is one of the games I’m most looking forward to this year. Wind Waker has always had a timeless art style, and I can’t wait to play it in HD. Now we’ve learned that Wind Waker has a new Hero mode available in the game, to challenge those of us who’ve played the game multiple times and want an additional challenge.
In Hero Mode enemies do double damage — fair enough, that makes things pretty difficult — but the real humdinger is this: you won’t be able to find hearts in the wild. The only way you can recuperate health is to find fairys or use red potions.
COME ON! Give me a break Nintendo. I’ll never be able to handle that! This is Zelda, not Dark Souls. Jeeesus.

Crazy!
I don’t know if that’s enough for me to replay it though. .. They are really missing a great opportunity to create that initial vision – please put the extra dungeons in.
Oh yessssss
yiiiiissssssssssssss
awwwww yissssssss
Having not played Wind Waker in years, I’m am looking forward to the release too, simply because I will have to think through puzzles again.
If you’re crazy mark then so am I.
I remember reading that wind waker HD will have tougher dungeons (harder puzzles, different layouts etc). does anyone know if this is hero mode only, or hero and normal mode. Does hero mode only change enemy damage / health recovery?
If it is anything like Master Quest for Ocarina of Time, then the different dungeon layouts, puzzle solutions and enemy mechanics will apply only to hero mode
I thought it was (sadly) all the same. Just a shortened tri force seatch at the end. Are there different puzzles/areas?
The “no wild hearts” thing sounds pretty interesting, as long as you can still get Grandmas soup.
Grandmas soup will now contain potassium benzoate
That’s bad.
But it comes with some free croutons!
That’s good.
But the croutons are poisoned.
I can play through Wind Waker blindfolded so I might do my first playthrough with Hero Mode, assuming Nintendo haven’t done something stupid like require you to complete Normal Mode to unlock Hero Mode.
IGN article mentions that specifically and says it’ll be available from the start as opposed to having to unlock it.
Miiverse will become a seething pit of rage. I’m loving the idea! *evil grin*
