Vandark has a plea for Square Enix, and it has nothing to do with Final Fantasy XIV’s (re)launch issues. No, the thing that most seems to bother this player is the way the bodies of a certain cat-like race (called ‘Miqo’te’) in the MMO look.
Thing is, the race used to have a more, err, voluptuous backside… but then that got changed, much to the dismay of some players.
“I can’t continue to ignore this like lots of you are, I try believe me, every time I equip my old gear I can’t help but notice every single time (Doesn’t matter what gear I ware) that the gear hangs in the air, or the bottom half of my character is a miss match with her upper half,” Vandark wrote in a thread on the Square Enix forums.
“1.0 Had great character models for all races, but the 2.0 character models particularly the Female Miquo’te now lack shape and the female Miquo’te body now appears to be structured incorrectly with the back and shoulder blades protruding outwards further than the rear,” he continued.
“All I’m after is for Yoshi to look into this again and consider returning the bottom half of our character models back to the 1.0 shape and size with a patch as an additional body option.”
Does this sound kind of ridiculous? Well, maybe you should look at Vandark’s visual evidence.
And here’s a screenshot from Mike:
Make of it what you will, but Vandark maintains it’s not a sexual thing, nor are they being petty — they say it’s just something that’s getting in the way of the immersion.
“Please Yoshi I really hope you can do something about this because for some of us this is a real problem and it’s making the game less enjoyable for me and I know I’m not the only one,” he posits — and judging from some of the reactions of the 30 page thread, he’s right. He’s not the only one that feels that way. A small sampling of the reactions that agree (click on ‘expand’ on the top left of the images):
Personally, it doesn’t seem like such a big deal to me, and certainly not all the reactions in the post are in agreement with the original poster. Still, for some, people catgirl butt stuff does matter.
I can’t ignore this anymore! Something should be done about it! [Square Enix Forums via John Funk]

It would appear that even mmo characters aren’t safe from the pandemic known as Miley Cyrus ass(or lack off).
In all seriousness, I thought this was going to be a troll pitch. Butt having a look at those images they do look rather disproportionate as well as making the clothing appear like it’s going around an invisible object.
I was actually gonna take the piss but this is kinda serious, you can’t get fantasy races wrong I would also be upset if I played FF
I see what you did there…
Alright, yeah, I was gonna take the piss too, but they haven’t been all stompy and screamy about it, just, “Awh, this is disappointing. Please fix?”
It’s so not an issue, though. In-game rationalization: Rather than having clothes which are designed specifically with miqo’te in mind, the catgirls and boys just carry lengths of wire around to customize new gear with shaping. Additionally, making sure that folds of fabric are lifted away from the tail will help prevent chafing and friction rashes.
Also, have these guys never seen a girl wearing a corset? On a fit, sleek girl who really doesn’t need a corset’s services, there are hard, jutting bits of non-cling fabric all over the place.
…I’ve written way too much about this, now.
it’s not so much about the Lore explanation as it is about looking like ass (pun unintended), the characters are disproportionate and after looking at it for a while I’m sure it gets annoying, especially when they used to be well proportioned, it’s an aesthetically choice and when it’s about many players main character it becomes important because the player is gonna be looking at them all the time.
I honestly can’t tell what other difference they are talking about, though. I just can’t see it. Kinda like those weirdos who can’t see magic eye pictures, I guess.
The entire ass is missing basically, it used to be a normal ass, now its an anorexic skeleton with no defineable curves, looks more like a some 10/yo girl than an actuall adult female with a set of hips.
The second thing is that the top half and the bottom half look like they are from 2 separate character models (as in 2 people cut in half wearing each others top halves like a centaur). Its harder to notice giving you need to look at a specific angle to see it.
But basically It is rather jarring once its pointed out to you, why they changed it in sucha manner is a good question.
Meh, they probably just shrank things for clipping issues or something, not really a big deal
This type of fan is exactly the reason Blizzard has been too scared to update 9 year old character models on WoW. So the millions of people who would not have noticed this miss out on updates because the odd fan like this.
Final Fantasy Stuff.
Weird Stuff.
Butt Stuff.
This guy really needs a partner. Jesus Christ, that was so spergy and uncomfortable.
