Community Kudos

Okay well that was a busy week for me, what with Grand Theft Auto V being released and whatnot. Now I get some time over the weekend to actually play the game. Oh, and welcome to Community Kudos!

We’ve actually got a fair amount of noms to deal with this week, so let’s get kicking.

This week has been all about the sporadic noms. Multiple different people being nominated for multiple different things. This makes it nigh on impossible for me to put together any kind of nom narrative, as I am wont to do, but I’ll give it my best shot regardless…

How about this TransientMind character. He’s a good guy, makes smart comments, gets nommed all the time. NOW HE IS THE ONE DOING THE NOMMING. THE NOM TABLES HAVE TURNED.

Hi Mark. Nomination for this week is early, but I didn’t nom last week, so you could also consider it late if you like!

@popdart5 introduced himself to TAY last week, going from a dozen posts in three years to four dozen posts in two weeks. Guy seems pretty quiet, unassuming, polite and writes pretty well. Most importantly he holds opinions that do not offend me personally or cause me to swear blood vendetta against him, and he doesn’t own a console. A proud example of the Master Race.

Props to popdart5 for going out on a limb, then diving successfully off that limb into the welcoming waters of TAY.

Welcome popdart5. TAY is a welcoming place and I hope you enjoy your stay.

This week has been dominated by GTA V, in the headlines, in the comments. Everywhere. It’s been impossible to escape. GTA V talk even filtered its way into noms…

I’d like to nominate @gutsoup. The guy hung out with me while we waited for JB Hifi to open on GTA V launch day and he also gave me his code for the in-game blimp! What a guy!

Have a good weekend, my friend!

I will! Thanks D.C.!

Today I got some short noms from Shane.

Shane
NOM FOR @RIZE! He’s giving my wife a phone to replace her dying iPhone 3.

Actually this week was all about short noms — check this out…

Hey. Just a quick mention for @dansdans and his comment on the EB drug article. 17/9/13 at 11:30am.

Just a good response to the discussion and thought it was worth a nom.

I’m giving noms to DAN! (of Dan & Karl’s Zeitgeist fame) for sending me Pokemon Gold. What a goddamn gentleman that Dan guy is.

anti-noms go to Australia post for being slow & horrible.

I would like to nominate Beavwa and McGarnical for helping me with some legal issues.
Thanks guys!

Welbot has a crazy heartwarming story of insane generosity. The guy isn’t a TAYbie, but it’s well worth reading regardless.

Welbot
Have to nom Aleph (@mythamphetamine) for giving me Age of Empires 2 HD!!! What a guy!!

I also want to drop a nom for my mate who visited me (not a TAYbie, but deserves a nom for being the most outstanding person in the universe!)
Online, he goes by the handle Anoxer. This champ came to have a join birthday celebration with me (was about half way between each of our b’day’s,) and upon arriving, he said he wanted to play wii u with me.

I didn’t have a wii u, so his answer to that was, “let’s go get one then!”

He walked in to EB, and bought a pre-owned 32gb wii u, and a copy of Super Mario Bros U, and then proceeded to tell me that I can keep it, and he would buy himself another one when he got home!!

Seriously… .WOWWOWOWOWOWOWOOWW!!!!! If that doesn’t deserve a Kudos nom, I dunno what does! Even though he’s not a TAYbie, I just have to spread the word about how awesome he is!

Was really one of the best birthday celebrations I’ve ever had, and it’s not even my b’day yet!

Insane.

Also, just as background, I want you to watch this video.

Yes, this is the best thing. I showed this to Kotaku reader Hermes and he was very much impressed.

I just want to throw an anti-nom my own way for mistakenly attributing the brilliance that is Nelly in a breakfast cereal commercial to your own beautiful mind. Then I want to throw you/Blaghman a nom for bringing it to my attention anyway which essentially cancels out my anti-nom (working as an anti-anti-nom).

I also want to nom McGarnical because I’ve never done that before… and wow, it feels good.

Community Kudos is your chance to reward Kotaku readers/posters who have done incredible things throughout the past week: sporadic acts of kindness, deft commenting skills — if someone deserves to be called out for being an incredible human being, Community Kudos is the place to do it. Send nominations directly to me at this address! The winner gets a cool prize from my massive box of stuff.*

Disclaimer — I’m am really bad at sending stuff out, I have a list, I haven’t forgotten, I’m totally getting round to it. Sorry everyone!

Okay, I think this week is the week of McGarnigal! Have a good weekend everyone!
