Community Kudos

Friday. A day of work, yet also a day of rejoicing. A day where the afternoon is spent lazing around like a bulbous oaf, pretending to work. A day where I usually eat a gozleme for lunch. A day for Community Kudos.

Not many Kudos nominations today. Were you all off being normal human beings instead of the exemplary, ridiculously, stupidly friendly/accommodating/generous crew you normally were, or did you all just take each other’s awesomeness for granted to the point where you forgot to email your noms? Either way I hope you’re all ashamed of yourselves! Outrageous.

Anyway, let’s get kicking. Cakesmith was super early with noms. They were good noms.

Cakesmith
On a Monday morning? What is this? Some kind of backwards world where hamburgers eat people?

Anyway…

Nom for @blaghman for giving me a floor to sleep on/wall to lean on/eat all his food over the weekend in Canberra. He also made some chicken thing which I’m pretty sure must’ve contained traces of cocaine because it was deliciously addictive.

Nom for @freezespreston for being an all round good guy and travel companion for the journey from Sydney to Canberra and back again.

Nom for @rize for playing tour guide around Canberra to locate supplies. Also he gave Mrs. @shane a phone for free. What a guy!

Nom for @mrtaco (Gooky) for being a crazy good pianyman. There’s a video going around somewhere.

Nom for @shane because he rocked up with 2 (maybe 3) boxes of junk goodies to give away. I know Rize walked off with an entire box of Star Wars novels, Freeze got an Assassin’s Creed 2 Ezio statue and Masha got an inFamous 2 collectors edition.

In a non-Canberra related nom, I know @scree nom’d you the other week Mark, but I would like to throw a nom the way of the likes of Ben and his rag tag company of behind the scenes folk. Keep up the good work slaves minions guys!

And finally, anti-noms for anyone who has never played Kingdom Hearts.

…yep.

I’m sure I’ve missed people being awesome and doing awesome stuff.

Those noms remind me of how bad I often am at remembering people’s multiple different names across Kotaku and Twitter.I did not know that @mrtaco on twitter was Gooky on Kotaku. What is wrong with me!

Also thanks for giving Ben some Kudos. I know for a fact he works harder than me, and I get all the glory. THE GLORY! Also, what the hell, I’m going to nom Ben, because we drove both our wives (who are also sisters) to the airport on Thursday. My wife took out her laptop at the security thing and forgot to put it back in because we had way too much baby stuff to deal with. Anyway, Ben totally called up the airport, found the laptop, then drove all the way to the airport to pick it up. Seriously, Ben is the greatest guy I know in real life.

And also, sorry Cakesmith. I’ve never played Kingdom Hearts. I’m so sorry.

Blaghman nommed. He had a meet down in Canberra — I was this close to heading down to Canberra for a rock climbing competition, but I changed my mind because I wanted to watch UFC with Ruffleberg (KFC Club represent). Sounds like it was quite the soiree…

Blaghman
Woo, I’m a bit late on remembering to send this off, though I guess it’s not Friday at 4:59 or whatever, so it’s not too bad.

Oh right, Noms. I had another Canberra Meat over the weekend, that I was woefully unprepared for, with people from Townsville, Geelong, and many places in between showing up, and I had a blast, so I’d like to nom everyone who turned up. But uhhh, I don’t want to risk naming them all in case I accidentally add someone, or forget to do so, so you’ll just have to accept a nom being sent out to the twenty-odd people who showed up. Special mentions to Shane’s wife and Strange’s sister for being brave enough to hang out with a bunch of weird internet people.

So uhh, yeah. It’s like an Oprah nom, but some people are excluded, and only they know who they are, and have to live with the shame.

Damn I’m a good friend.

Oprah noms. My favourite kind of noms.

Tigerion’s noms made me hungry…

Just a couple of quick noms one before I head out to a work BBQ.

B-ob, fractripro and vapor for their ‘quotes’ in Tuesdays HaiTaku.

transientmind for linking to his ‘slightly’ long anime suggestions.

I want to hear Transientmind’s anime suggestions. Where can I find these! Also, can I come to your work BBQ?

Great noms from Pixel The Ferret Viking.

Pixel The Ferret Viking
Hi, how are you? i’m good thanks for asking.
Well actually i had a bit of a headache earlier this week,
you know one of those really grating irritating headaches you just cant shake…
but i’m better now…
yeah…

good times, good times…

OH YEAH, that’s right, noms for this week:
First shout out goes to Cakesmith for being a gift giving god, gifting me Dark Souls. In what i can only guess is a ploy to completely destroy me psychologically…

Second nom is a tad bit more serious,
I believe that Scree should be win the Community Kudos this week.
Not only for being an active and awesome member of TAY, who is not afraid to share her point of view.
But also for helping me out personally.
My wife has been going through some… issues.
And Scree has been very helpful both to me and her on how to deal with it, she has been very open about issues she has dealt with herself and been an all out stand up person.
We wouldn’t have made the advancements we had in dealing with this issue without her, so she deserves recognition for that…
Scree is pretty rad…

WELL, that’s me for this week
stay cool and stuffs.

Well that just made me happy. Scree is super helpful and I’ve been on the receiving end of her helpfulness on a couple of occasions. She is great. So congrats to Scree! Who is this week’s winner of Community Kudos. Shout out to Blaghman, who appears to have hosted a mighty shindig!

Have a great weekend everyone!
