It’s easy to lose sight of the next Shantae game with all the hoopla over the next, next one, but developer Wayforward is here to remind us (with a trailer, no less) that Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is still very much a thing.

This instalment of the retro-esque platformer series will have the belly-dancing half-genie Shantae team up with Risky Boots, the pirate antagonist from the previous game, on a quest to recover her stolen genie powers — and to stop Risky’s old mentor, The Pirate Master, from returning and ruining everyone’s day. On the way, she’ll collect a variety of upgradable pirate gear which will assist her with crossing obstacles (and beating up baddies) in the game’s large, Metroid-esque map.

Expect Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse to sail onto the 3DS, via the Nintendo eShop, this Winter.
