The Daily HaiTaku

Well it seems as though Shads totally stumped all of you on Friday. It was, admittedly, a complete humdinger. Add to that the fact that everyone thought it was Assassin's Creed Revelations and you have yourself a real stalemate.

The correct answer was Byzantine: The Betrayal — an adventure game I totally hadn't heard of before.

Today's Haiku comes from Unicron! Have at it ladies and gentlemen.

Fuse ready to blow. Jump to glide and jump to fly. Hope you win free game.

This is HaiTaku. We write Haikus about old video games and leave it you to guess what game we're talking about. If you want to submit a Haiku feel free. Send it here!

    Bomb Jack.

Totally is bomb jack. I remember getting free games on that!

My uncle has a Bomb Jack arcade unit in his house (which is basically a pool table and two arcade very old machines and some sports memorabilia on the walls) and I have played the living crap out of it for free regardless of skill level.

It's only in recent years I have realised this was a game other people had actually heard of.

When I was seven this was my main game at the local milk bar. It was the one game I could whip by older brother at. I haven't played it much recently but have it on my MAME cabinet ready to go. I think with my old man reflexes I'd be pretty bad at it now.

Well done Crotch. Guess is was pretty easy to guess. When i was 15 back in good old 1990. I got up to round 150, had lives running along the bottom of the screen and about 12 free games. Had to just leave the game and go home because the video shop was closing. Spewing! Could never do that well now.

Was a great game, good choice for a Haitaku. Like most old-school arcade games from back then I'm more familiar with the C64 version than the arcade, though.

    Fuse... Explosives... Hey!
I think I might know this one.
    It's The Dig, of course.
