There Will Be No LEGO Jurassic Park. Sorry.

There Will Be No LEGO Jurassic Park. Sorry.

Hopes were raised last week that, via the company’s Cuusoo program, we might get an official Jurassic Park LEGO set. Hopes that today have been sadly dashed.

While the Cuusoo program exists to let users create their dream projects, the legal and financial clout LEGO enjoys means that often – as was the case with both Minecraft and Back to the Future – the rights can be secured to create licensed sets.

But not in this case. LEGO issued a verdict on the project’s page which reads:

First and foremost, congratulations on the well over 5,000 supporters for this project on LEGO® CUUSOO! You’ve created a beautiful 3D rendering of a Jurassic Park scene that could make a great LEGO set and have really rallied a community of fans behind it.

The bad news is, we’ve looked into the possibility of producing a set based on Jurassic Park, and since another company has the construction toy licence for this IP, we can’t pursue this further as a potential LEGO set. We’re sorry to be the bearers of this disappointing news.

Bummer.
