Every week it’s the same. I check what’s coming out on consoles and say to myself, ‘oh, looking a little sparse this week’. Then I check what’s coming out on Steam. ONLY EVERY GAME EVER MADE. This week’s biggest release? I’d argue FIFA 14 on current gen consoles, but if you’re getting a PS4 or Xbox One, you might want to hold out.
Alien Rage (PC)
What is it? A shooter about shooting them aliens. They took our jerbs.
Should You Care? It looks like a big dumb action packed shooter. I’m actually intrigued.
Day One: Garry’s Incident (PC)
What is it? A survival/crafting thing with the worst name in history.
Should You Care? I don’t know enough about it. It’s in the first person, it looks a bit undercooked, but maybe I’m missing something.
Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate (360/PS3)
What is it? The latest edition of that fighter/jiggle simulator you’ve heard so much about.
Should You Care? I don’t really think this series has been super relevant for a while now. I’m saying no.
FIFA 14 (360/PS3/Wii/PC)
What is it? It’s the greatest sports franchise on the planet, I would say.
Should You Care? I’m going to hold out for the next gen versions. You may think differently.
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams: Rise of the Owlverlord (PC)
What is it? A ‘blistering’ platformer says the Steam page.
Should You Care? I dunno. I just think everyone should play Rayman Legends instead.
Lost Planet 3 (PC)
What is it? The PC version of Lost Planet 3, coming in a little late.
Should You Care? I’ve lost interest in the Lost Planet series. I think it just sort of got left behind a little.
PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ (PC)
What is it? PAC-MAN evolved.
Should You Care? This game is awesome. I love it.
Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure (PC)
What is it? The first game to take Scribblenauts into licensed waters.
Should You Care? Scribblenauts is good. I like the series.
Shadow Warrior (PC)
What is it? A reimagining of the 3D realms game from 1997
Should You Care? To be honest, I haven’t been keeping tabs on this at all.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers (3DS)
What is it? What is it with all these stupidly long video game titles this week?
Should You Care? Look, it reviewed well, but I have a rule: game titles as long as this are usually a sign of a franchise stretched to breaking point.
The Rise Of Venice (PC)
What is it? A historical strategy game.
Should You Care? There seems to be a lot of these, do we need another? Seriously, you tell me!
Timelines: Assault On America (PC)
What is it? Looks like some sort of Company of Heroes style RTS to me…
Should You Care? I’m going to say no.

Isn’t it a sign that a publisher has no hope for their own release if they release it within the first 2 weeks of a GTA game?
Could be why 10 of the games are PC only.
I not a lot of people who only own multiple copies of FIFA and no other games. It is a very different game with a loyal fanbase so don’t think launching now will affect them at all.
DOA, well you might have a point
Apart from Voliton and Deep Silver bringing out Saints Row IV in the same week (in Australia at least)
Hmmm, looking at the above list, the only games on PS3/X360 are FIFA and DoA.
FIFA could probably be ok as I know of people who buy nothing but sports games and wouldn’t give two hoots about GTAV…but DoA?
Yeah, evidence does seem to support your theory.
I played through lost planet 3 and it was a great game. Shouldn’t be judged on previous versions. Great story and it was fun.
I’ve already got alien rage and shadow warrior purchased. SW should be awesome.
The original Giana Sisters was great, I’ll definitely be picking up the DLC. The rapid switching between characters to try and 100% the levels is fast and frantic but enjoyable.
Haven’t played Rayman yet so not sure how it compares.
Wind Waker is next week.
GODDAMN IT TIME, SPEED UP.
They have a musical instrument for that sort of thing >.>
Scribblenauts Unmasked should also be Wii U, right?
Shadow Warrior’s this week? Yay! Time to slice me up some demons! Not sure if it’s worth $40, tho… might look around for a better deal.
Was gonna get it until I read a interview from the dev’s saying the game is 5 hours long, not worth $40 for a 5 hour game
Will probably wait for a steam sale, as I can’t find anywhere selling for under $33. Been eagerly awaiting it for a few months now, but thought it’d be about $20-25…
Wasn’t FIFA 14 being given away free to all Xbox One owners?
only for xb1 preorders I think
Already got Shadow Warrior preordered. Looks like it’ll be my kind of dumb fun.
I’ll probably grab the new Scribblenauts. I think the DC crossover is kind of weird, but I do like me some DC so I guess it’ll be alright?
I’m gonna play wait and see as far as Garrys Incident goes, but it looks interesting.
Largely though I’ll probably still be playing GTA V. I’m nearly done, but I’ve got a fair bit of side stuff left. Enough to keep me in until GTA Online comes out next week at least. Looking forward to that.
Honestly, been hanging out for Soul Hackers for a while. Yeah, the name is long, but that’s because SMT is the umbrella, and the sub franchises indicate what sort of game to expect.
But yes, I am hyped for a remake of a 16 year old Saturn RPG that never saw an english release until the 3DS version, what of it?
FIFA 14 has an absolutely massive install base worldwide. I think it would do perfectly fine at any time of the year regardless of what games/consoles were released beforehand and after
