This Week In Games

Every week it’s the same. I check what’s coming out on consoles and say to myself, ‘oh, looking a little sparse this week’. Then I check what’s coming out on Steam. ONLY EVERY GAME EVER MADE. This week’s biggest release? I’d argue FIFA 14 on current gen consoles, but if you’re getting a PS4 or Xbox One, you might want to hold out.

Alien Rage (PC)

What is it? A shooter about shooting them aliens. They took our jerbs.
Should You Care? It looks like a big dumb action packed shooter. I’m actually intrigued.

Day One: Garry’s Incident (PC)

What is it? A survival/crafting thing with the worst name in history.
Should You Care? I don’t know enough about it. It’s in the first person, it looks a bit undercooked, but maybe I’m missing something.

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate (360/PS3)

What is it? The latest edition of that fighter/jiggle simulator you’ve heard so much about.
Should You Care? I don’t really think this series has been super relevant for a while now. I’m saying no.

FIFA 14 (360/PS3/Wii/PC)

What is it? It’s the greatest sports franchise on the planet, I would say.
Should You Care? I’m going to hold out for the next gen versions. You may think differently.

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams: Rise of the Owlverlord (PC)

What is it? A ‘blistering’ platformer says the Steam page.
Should You Care? I dunno. I just think everyone should play Rayman Legends instead.

Lost Planet 3 (PC)

What is it? The PC version of Lost Planet 3, coming in a little late.
Should You Care? I’ve lost interest in the Lost Planet series. I think it just sort of got left behind a little.

PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ (PC)

What is it? PAC-MAN evolved.
Should You Care? This game is awesome. I love it.

Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure (PC)

What is it? The first game to take Scribblenauts into licensed waters.
Should You Care? Scribblenauts is good. I like the series.

Shadow Warrior (PC)

What is it? A reimagining of the 3D realms game from 1997
Should You Care? To be honest, I haven’t been keeping tabs on this at all.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers (3DS)

What is it? What is it with all these stupidly long video game titles this week?
Should You Care? Look, it reviewed well, but I have a rule: game titles as long as this are usually a sign of a franchise stretched to breaking point.

The Rise Of Venice (PC)

What is it? A historical strategy game.
Should You Care? There seems to be a lot of these, do we need another? Seriously, you tell me!

Timelines: Assault On America (PC)

What is it? Looks like some sort of Company of Heroes style RTS to me…
Should You Care? I’m going to say no.
