Did you make models as a kid? I did. Plastic cement and messy decals were a weekly duo on my kitchen table. I got better as I got older, but even by the time I stopped (at around 14), I could only dream of putting together kits like this.
This is the work of Japanese modeller mdsm, who while specialising in Maschinen Krieger also does some fantastic work on stuff like Gundam.
While his paintjobs do a lot of the heavy-lifting, its his customisation work that really makes this fantastic, from the celebrity homages to the scratch-built characters to the little tweaks he makes to existing kits that make them a little more “his”.
You can see plenty more at mdsm’s site, linked below.

One response to “Your Childhood Wishes Its Model Kits Were This Good”
My adulthood wishes some of these kits were not so expensive.
Sand parts, prime, paint 1 coat of base colour, cement to other parts, sand down, spray second coat of base, tape up stencils, spray on patterns, gloss coat, decals, panel line, 2 layers of matte coat. Really not that hard.
+1
though i wish i’d thought of that kaemfer’s colour scheme.
