Amazon says they plan to honour all PS4 Watch Dogs bundles this November — without Watch Dogs, which has been delayed until spring of 2014. If you pre-ordered the console, Amazon says you’ll get it. No word on what you’ll get instead of Watch Dogs, if anything.
“For those of you who pre-order the Watch Dogs PlayStation 4 bundle — don’t worry — you will still be getting your Playstation 4 (without Watch Dogs) based on your current delivery estimate,” Amazon writes. “We are adjusting the orders now and will update you once we know more.”
(thanks, @Lqudsnake!)
UPDATE (4:51pm): Meanwhile, GameStop adds that they’ll also be honouring pre-order bundles, offering a number of options to folks who put down money. Here’s their statement to Kotaku:
With the news that Ubisoft has delayed the release of the highly-anticipated title Watch Dogs until next year, GameStop is contacting customers who had reserved PlayStation 4 and Xbox One bundles featuring the game. Customers can elect to keep their current bundle orders and their consoles will ship as scheduled with the game shipping separately once it is available or customers can choose another bundle to replace their current order. Customers should also note that there may be a difference in the price if selecting another bundle and that all reserved orders will be charged upon shipment.

Makes sense. Can’t find anything objectionable there. But this is the Internet… SOMEONE WILL! 🙂
THEIR WITHHOLDING THE GAME SO PEOPLE WILL BUY SOMETHING ELSE AND BOOST SALES OF OTHER INFERIOR GAMES!!!!!
They’ve delayed it so that they can further defraud the French, Canadian and US governments of tax dollars via grey-area accounting practices. Hence the delay until the next fiscal year, and not a delay until say February.
I’m going to pirate it and leave burnt copies on the bus for people to find out of spite at this behaviour.
I think that’s probably a bit tinfoil hatty for my tastes, but I have to upvote for the mental image of someone actually running around leaving burned copies of pirated games on public transport by means of social protest. I laughed.
