Microsoft has announced that it has hired TV and radio host Jonathan Ross to work as an executive producer with developers in the UK, including Lionhead and Rare. “We wanted to bring in new talent that would challenge the way we build games and the way we think about what an audience is and what is entertainment,” executive Phil Harrison said at an event last night in London.
The TV presenter’s exact role was not specified though.
Ross is well known for his exceptional knowledge of gaming, movies and Japanese manga, so whatever his role will be, this is good news.

This will either be a stroke of genius, or the dumbest move ever.
I can’t stand Jonathon Ross. I don’t care about his geek credentials – he’s simply not funny.
It doesn’t matter if he’s funny or not. This isn’t a spot in a comedy gala line up. He’ll be at Microsoft not as a business man, but as a consumer. Thats really important. Especially for Microsoft because it seems like they’re alredy on the ‘back foot’ behind Sony.
