That’s One Way To Sell The Basic Wii U

That’s One Way To Sell The Basic Wii U

With a new Wii U Deluxe set coming out on November 1 featuring two Mario games, how can Nintendo possibly sell new Wii buyers on the basic unit? How about an exclusive Skylanders: Swap Force figure?

The Limited Edition Skylanders: Swap Force Wii U Basic Set is actually a pretty good deal, especially if you’re not a big fan of Mario or storage space. It’s the basic white Wii U, a Skylanders: Swap Force starter kit with an exclusive colour-shifting Washbuckler figure, and a copy of Nintendo Land on disc — the deluxe set doesn’t even get that anymore.

With the Swap Force starter set running $US75 on its own, it’s like getting a basic Wii U for $US225, and considering folks will pay a premium for that Washbuckler figure on eBay if you don’t want it, it’s even cheaper than that. Just don’t mention the exclusive figure from last year’s Wii bundle was recently released at retail on the cheap.
