In Japan, most little girls watch the magical girl anime Pretty Cure. Many adore it! One Grandfather decided the best way to delight his grandchild was to paint it. In watercolours.
What a darling painting! So cool to see a grandfather go the extra distance to delight his grandchild.
The watercolour depicts the characters from Smile Pretty Cure!, which ran until earlier this year.
The image was first uploaded to Twitter last year and was retweeted over eighteen thousand times. Recently, it started doing the internet rounds again in Japan.
Be aware that Pretty Cure is aimed largely at little girls in pre-school and kindergarten. Boys in the same age group tend to watch Super Sentai (Power Rangers) and Kamen Rider.

“Be aware that Pretty Cure is aimed largely at little girls in pre-school and kindergarten” Anyone want to take bets about the size of the adult male audience in japan?
Also totally awesome Grandpa.
Are you apart of that male audience?
the characters are genuinely compelling OKAY?!?
I’m genuinely surprised that Ashcraft didn’t take the cheap shot there. Maybe he’s one too…
