This afternoon, EA put up a blog post blaming the PS4’s day-one firmware update for “stability issues” affecting games on the new console. Now it’s saying that was a mistake.
“The message on EA’s Help site was posted in error,” an EA representative said in an e-mail to Kotaku. “Players with questions about PS4 connectivity can visit https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/de… for the latest updates.”

Did you just get a brand new PlayStation 4? Did you download the day-one firmware update? Be careful — EA says the new patch has been rendering games unstable and buggy.

Sony has released a firmware update for the PlayStation 4 that is required for many features on the console. However, this update also results in stability issues while playing games on the system.
This affects all games on the PS4, including EA titles, causing crashing/freezing and non-responsive connections between the player’s console and their TV Screen.
Unfortunately since it’s an issue with Sony’s firmware, it requires a new update to fix it. Sony is working to resolve the issue as quickly as they can. They will update their System Update page as new versions are made available, and we will keep this page updated as we find out more.
Despite EA’s warnings, we at Kotaku have been able to play multiple PS4 games without a problem since Tuesday night, when we downloaded the patch to our retail units. We’ve been playing games like Knack, Killzone, and Assassin’s Creed IV without any hitches.
However, I’ve had a few issues getting Madden 25 to load, and Evan is having some stability issues with Need for Speed, although both of those problems could be chalked up to Internet deficiencies.
We’ve reached out to Sony for more info, and we’ll update should they comment. For now, your best bet might be to hold off on downloading the system update if you want to play EA games.

What a ridiculous things to say. An update that prevents a console from running every games would never be released. It would take some kind of completely retarded, idiotic moron to release such an update without testing a single game on it. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony thoroughly and personally tested every launch title with this new update.
