Bad news for anyone who was hoping to play the South Park RPG in December: the folks behind it have delayed the game again.
Now South Park: The Stick of Truth is scheduled for March 4 of next year. It’ll be out on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
This is the third *official* delay for the Obsidian-developed game which was originally slated to be published by THQ last March, then picked up by Ubisoft, delayed and delayed until December 2013, and will now be out in 2014.
Via the Ubisoft blog, a quote from South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone: “We always wanted the game to feel like you’re actually in an episode of South Park. Getting the game up to the crappy standards of the show has been a real challenge and we’re excited to say it’s taken way longer than we thought it would.”
And here’s some new gameplay:

Ahh you’re breaking my balls here Matt and Trey. You’re really breaking my balls!
Booooooo Obsidian Entertainment. Booooooo.
As much as I’d love for this game to be amazing, things seem to indicate that the end product won’t be good as I’d hope.
This looks freakin epic, can’t wait !!!!!!!
Yes the correlation of delays to final product worries me too. It looks great to me every time I see it so live in hope I guess.
I disagree. Obsidian games all have one thing in common – they’re rushed, leaving them unpolished and buggy. If being delayed again means making in perfect, I’m all for it.
Ahh yes, you must be talking about Fallout: New Vegas.
And Alpha Protocol. And Knights of the Old Republic II. And (from what I’ve read somewhere) Neverwinter Nights 2.
I forgot entirely about Alpha Protocol.
Aside from being a bit of a glitchfest, is the game any good?
Personally I couldnt get into it, but there is quite a few people that have posted on other sites/ forums saying they loved it.
If you can get past the bugs, it’s actually a pretty good game. Just a tip though, don’t bother with the weapon skills. They’re utterly useless!
Ubisoft are on a real roll here.
PS4/Xbox One dev shift?
Surprised that anyone actually cares about this anymore.
If you’re a fan of southpark and loosely into anything fantasy then this is a match made in heaven… all the southpark details are amazing.
Are you serious? After watching that I am more excited than ever. South Park meets Paper Mario…sign me the f*ck up!
An extra 4 month delay and no next gen console releases? I think Ubisoft are herping their derp.
Agreed.
‘scuse my ignorance here, but it looks like the kind to thing that wouldn’t be particularly hard to port to a next gen console.
I’m much less likely to play it on a last-gen console if it comes out next March.
It’s one of those time when I’d kill for some backwards compatibility.
Judging by Obsidians previous games an extra few months of polish and bug testing won’t hurt.
No excuses now…. but they will still try…
coming out in the third month of the year. Half Life 3 confirmed. Seriously though, there’s probably more chance of us actually hearing something about the next Half Life before this is released
They now have time to insert a Daikatana or Duke reference into the game.
Holy shit, that looks great.
Obsidian always make awesome games with glitches.
Now the polish may mean awesome game with polish.
The longer it takes to make the higher the dev cost so they would not bother unless it was worth it to Ubisoft.
saw it at EB Expo… looked great… this new trailer is even better… holy crap its gonna b a long wait!
DAMMMM, this game looks AMAZING!
Oh what’s that, you want to play a South Park game but you can’t? Why don’t you go play another South Park game? Oh there’s no decent ones out at the moment? Ooooh how annoying for you.
