The Daily HaiTaku

Well done to Yumpy who correctly guessed that yesterday's haiku by Arky was Blaster Master. That was a tough one!

Today's haiku comes from Zar!

Enemies coming. Get ready to defend man, Repair what is lost.

Good luck!

This is HaiTaku. We write Haikus about old video games and leave it you to guess what game we're talking about. If you want to submit a Haiku feel free. Send it here!

I think this might be Rampart.

      Good job

How the hell did he get it

Ha! Thanks, It was the distinct sequence you had there that twigged it for me. Enemies coming, defend, then repair. That's a bit different to most tower defence games (where you normally build before enemies come, and rebuild, rather than repair).

I originally had a line about a fleet in there, but i thought that might make it too obvious

    Defense Grid: the awakening.

Not sure about repairing, but seems to me this haiku could be about lots of tower defense style games.

Then again, it could even be something like Mass Effect.

Some of these Haikus seem a little on the overly ambiguous side.

Seems so, but there's usually a keyword to it

Wow, this one would describe many games!

Truth. Could be applied to so many different genres too.

Can't be Fieldrunners, enemies don't fight back.

Lol. It's unlikely to be that then. I've honestly never played it, as I'm not really a fan of tower defence. I just googled "random tower defense games".

Meanwhile, a lot of these really ambiguous sounding ones have some kind of very particular clue in the wording.

For example, take the Earthworm Jim one a few days ago. It sounds incredibly generic, unless you happen to know the princess was called "Whatshername". Likewise the one for Demon's Souls sounded quite vague, unless you knew pancake face in the hub area kept saying "so the world might be mended" over and over.

Makes you wonder. There's probably some game out there with little dudes screaming "REPAIR WHAT IS LOST! REPAIR WHAT IS LOST!"

They kinda have to be a bit ambiguous, to throw people off a bit. Not that it worked today.

    Biker Mice from Mars.

im getting tired... ive lost count of how many times ive done this :(

      These Martians Kick butt
      They need a good mechanic
      to help save the earth

Battlefield, as you can repair tanks, Defend man from some sort of Terror group or Russians and those enemies are always incoming in Multiplayer

    Soul Caliber III

I'm betting it's one of the ones on this list.
