Given the way both handhelds are able to interact, along with the fact their handheld hasn’t been selling that well, it was inevitable that Sony would eventually start selling the two devices together, which they now are. Only it’s not that great a deal.
Sony Europe have confirmed that a bundle including both the PS4 and Vita – rumoured earlier in the week – will be on sale as of today, priced at “a little under £500 ($745)”. As Eurogamer point out, however, that constitutes a saving of “around £10 ($15)” on their individual prices, meaning it’s not exactly a huge incentive if you weren’t already planning on getting both machines at once anyway.
Still, it’s early days. I’m sure one day, someone, somewhere will make a game that uses both consoles together in a neat and compelling manner, and a bundle can come along that not only saves people some cash, but presents a decent argument for wanting to own devices in the first place.

Give me the option of throwing a Vita into my PS4’s box for an extra fifty bucks, and it’s as good as sold.
I always said if they had a bundle for AU$699 with a game for each I would have been all over it. $150 for a vita isn’t unreasonable.
I think $150 for a Vita would be crazy cheap. The system is truly underrated. I love my Vita.
AU pricing: $550 for console, $200 for Vita. Make it a $750 bundle: $500 for console + games, $150 for VIta + games. So yeah, $699 would be a huge bargain and the thing would fly off shelves.
Additionally, the massive market capture would mean more and better games coming to the Vita!
Yes, but you’re overlooking the fact that there’s a memory card in that bundle as well… Depending on the size, that could be at least another $20 value. Not bad if you don’t already own a Vita and want to jump on board…
I am glad I got a Vita already rather than holding out for the bundle. Savings to small tojustify waiting.
I’m sorry, but if you thought that this bundle would be cheap than you’re a moron. Sony is already making a loss on both systems by just selling the hardware, and you think a bundle of both would significantly cut prices? Get real!
Isn’t Sony making money on the PS4? Not a lot, but still making some. PS Vita they’re definitely losing money on, but if they want to actually sell some, they’re going to need to lose.
After a quick google there’s some conflicting articles, but I think they’re selling it at a loss, even if ever so slightly. Vita is definitely making a loss, so them cutting $15 isn’t helping already.
Bill of materials says they are making a profit. However, bill of materials doesn’t count labour, R&D, marketing, etc.

Really? This is what Kotaku.au is reduced to?
This is actually a Kotaku US article. Plunkett may be Australian, but he writes for the US site.
Given the difficulty of even finding a PS4 in a store, this isn’t a terrible deal for those in the market. I watched a PS4 go for nearly double RRP on eBay last night so these things will sell even if the buyer doesn’t WANT a Vita.
Eh. Getting it anyway.
Sony, no one likes the psp, if you want people using it then give it away with the console.
not make a bundle that is $10 cheaper
Saying no one likes the psp is silly, don’t speak for others.
Looks like I’ll be buying separate was hoping that considering its called the ultimate bundle you’d get a ps4 and game, ps vita with game and memory card for about $750. To the idiot who made the comment no1 likes psp where in this article is anyone talking bout psp
