Unreleased Game, Rise Of Nations: Tactics, Found On Servers Of Now-Defunct 38 Studios

After the release of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, things didn’t work out that well for developer 38 Studios. The company’s fall has been a messy affair, with the most recent news being the sale of its intellectual property, to be conducted on December 11. However, this auction includes an intriguing find — a completed Mac game called Rise of Nations: Tactics.

The tidbit, buried in a press release announcing the auction, was spotted by Dave Tach over at Polygon. Unfortunately, other than providing the name of the game and its intended platform, there are no details as to what the game entails or why it was never released.

According to the press release, the game had been sitting, neglected, on 38 Studios’ servers before being discovered by “due diligence efforts” on the part of Heritage Global Partners, the company handling the sale of the developer’s assets.

Given the completed nature of the game (at least, according to HGP), it’ll be interesting to see if anyone picks it up in search of a quick buck. I guess we’ll have to wait until mid-December to find out.
