A portable gaming machine was apparently used in an alleged bullying incident that left one kid humiliated and claiming mental anguish.
According to Japanese wire service Jiji Press, a sixth grade boy in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan was allegedly bullied in between May 2012 and this past September by seven other children in the same sports club. Jiji Press reports that the boy was allegedly stripped and photographed with a gaming handheld device by the other kids. The Jiji Press report doesn’t clarify whether the bullying took place at one classmate’s home or several. It also did not mention a specific gaming handheld.
The boy is suing the seven other kids, who range in age between 12 and 13 years old, and their guardians for ¥10 million ($100,000). In Japan, the story is being widely reported on 2ch, the country’s largest forums, as well as game blogs like Hachima Kikou.

I originally feared he had been forced to read Ashcraft “posts” on the handheld, but the actual facts were even worse.
Just.
tl;dr gaming turns people into child molesters.
correction gaming turns children into child molesters
still horrible that this kid of bullied to that length tho
It happened at a workplace that I know of with 20-30yr old males. Sad.
A few years ago, a friend of mine found out her boyfriend was seeing another woman. Rather than compete, the two of them became friends with a common enemy (their cheating boyfriend), and dug around a little more, finding out that the guy was quite the player.
Instead of confronting him immediately, they thought it would be cool to get their revenge on him by inviting him up to a hotel room for some kinky ‘fun’, then instead of fun? Stripping, binding, gagging, and leaving him there to rot and soil himself, after taking some compromising and humiliating photos.
They were very excited about this and I had to be the buzz-killer telling them that no matter how much he may deserve it, what they were considering was incredibly illegal, with deprivation of liberty potentially earning them some serious jail time.
Wow.
But, you start off as if telling a story, then end with ‘considering’. D:
Well. It’s what they thought would be cool… but I wouldn’t let them do it. It was all talk. They were persuaded, and instead engaged in an apparently ruinous (but from what I understand, legal) smear campaign/cockblock operation.
correction: gaming turns bullies into child molesters….
Since it seems every handheld electronic device these days comes with a camera, bit weird to single out that fact it was a handheld game, could have just as easily been a phone, makes it no less terrible, just an observation.
Um, this is gaming related because instead of using a phone/watch/camera/tablet/tv/ipad camera they used a portable console camera?
aaaaaaalrighty then
I can hear Nintnedo pointing at this and going “SEE? This is why we HAD to remove Swapnote!”
Ohhhh, photographed with a handheld as in the handheld used to photograph him.
I thought it was odd that they strip him, give him a handheld and then take a photo of him.
gotta love the ambiguity of the english language in situations like this…
