Here's Our First Look At The Colourful Plastic World Of LEGO The Hobbit

Here's our first look at the colourful plastic world of LEGO The Hobbit.

Announced officially late last month, the 2014 TT Games developed adventure will span the first two movie in the trilogy, paving the way for the inevitable complete version once the third film is out, followed by a bundle of both it and LEGO Lord of the Rings.

I haven't really played the lego games before, but how does the brand seem to avoid the stigma that brands like Assassins Creed and Call of Duty have acquired about recycled trash. There seems to be three or more Lego games a year being pumped out.

Because every lego game is based on a completely different world.
the closest thing between star wars and LOTR/Hobbit is a bow with a gun and a sword with a light saber.

Game mechanics are easily changed and differentiated between different titles due to this.

Yes the themes are different in every game; star wars, lotr, Harry potter. But the mechanics are the same: go thro area collecting Lego bits, break stuff, build stuff to complete puzzle, characters with diff abilities unlocked later, replay to explore everywhere.

I do love the Lego games tho they really are just different skins on the same game

agreed. theyre good fun buy i think they need to start expanding the formula. maybe add in a leveling system, add some more depth to combat, skill trees etc. nothing too in depth but just something new to the formula to shake things up a bit.

be all and end all...these games are targeted towards children and young teens at the most not hardcore gamers, small changes in the mechanics are more than enough to keep them happy.

adding in the open world element in the recent games was a good step. im loving cruising around new york in lego marvel and unlocking characters and doing side missions.

If that's what they're doing with it I think I'll wait for the "complete edition".
