Last year, it was Black Mesa. Which mod did the community choose as their favourite this year? Let’s find out.
If you recognise the game at the top, you probably know the answer already: yep, the Just Cause 2 Multiplayer mod managed to wow just about everyone with its reckless, chaotic, and hilarious gameplay, snagging ModDB’s Mod of the Year award even though it was only released to the general public barely over a week ago.
A total of 141,000 votes were counted; runners-up include mods such as Brutal Doom at number four and the Project Brazil total conversion for Fallout: New Vegas at number nine. Watch the clip above (or take a look at the contest page) for the rest.
At the same time, the results for IndieDB’s Indie Game of the Year voting have also been revealed, with Starbound emerging as the ultimate victor.

Just Cause 2 mod is pretty fun (ive clocked about 8 hrs), but very overhyped. Like the single player game, theres not really a lot to do. Still, provides new life to the game.
Extremely overhyped. It is a boring mess. Technically a good feat but practically a dud
Speaking of overhyped, I still don’t know how Black Mesa got first place last year. It really wasn’t that good.
Because the starved half life fan boi’s will take anything so long as it even hints at the idea of a new sequel.
Your brain sucks.
The wait time to alleviate that tight HL3 knot in your rectum sucks. I hear Valve will release it when the fanboy rage is no longer funny.
as opposed to Duke Nukem Forever which caused fanboy rage by not being very funny…
I dunno I found the whole scenario pretty funny and due to it being shallow its pretty easy to play while high.
Aha, I knew there was an ingredient I was missing! 🙂
Just Cause 2 Multiplayer is pretty great, but I wish there was just a little more too do honestly. Still a great mod and I can only hope for more updates ^___^
The top ten mods as chosen by PC gamers… As opposed to all those great console game mods? Just Cause 2 MP is brilliant, a great proof of concept for the potential of open world sandbox multiplayer. Chaos and mayhem only entertains for so long though, but brilliant none the less.
