Yes, there is a Sly Cooper movie on the way, apparently. It’s coming out in 2016*. And it will feature the return of Sly’s nemesis, Clockwerk.
The movie will be penned and directed by Kevin Munroe, the guy behind 2007’s TMNT, with the animation being handled by Rainmaker and Blockade Entertainment, who are also currently working on a similar Ratchet & Clank-related project. The movie’s Facebook page has a few words to say about the movie’s plot:
Sly Cooper is a kinetic and comedic heist film that tells the story of Sly Cooper, an orphaned raccoon thief, along with his childhood friends and partners in crime, Bentley Turtle and Murray Hippo. In the film, Sly learns of his birth family’s secret legacy; that he comes from a long line of talented and international thieves.
Endowed with this knowledge, Sly and his friends are catapulted into a global adventure as they race to reassemble pieces of an ancient book holding The Cooper Clan’s family secrets before it can fall into the hands of Clockwerk — an evil Russian metallic owl bent on ending the Cooper family line. From romantic Parisian backdrops to the lush mountains of China, gritty film noir meets bright, colourful graphic novels in this origin story of the world’s greatest thief-turned-hero.

2016….. that is a loooong time from now
Can it really be the return of Clockwerk when it’s actually his first appearance? This is Sly’s origin story (ie. The first game) where he first finds out about Clockwerk and what he did to his family.
