One of the well-known techniques of Smash Bros, “edge-hogging”, will be revamped for Super Smash Bros Wii U, as a recently released screenshot and comment from Masahiro Sakurai shows. Edge-hogging, or edge-grabbing is one of the more advanced (and funny) techniques in Smash Bros where you hold onto a ledge so that the other player, who is trying to return to the stage after falling off, couldn’t grab it.
The developer revealed how this will change:
There are many changes being made to attack and defence options for grabbing ledges. In this picture, Link is actually trumping Mario’s grab.
Some other changes include:
-Air time and accumulated damage will determine your period of invincibility while hanging on an edge.
-Grab controls will no longer be affected by whether you have above or below 100% damage.
So all those who considered edge-hogging a cheap tactic can cool off, because it will probably be a lot harder to pull it off in the new game.

I loved being a dick to my friends by doing that.
Spike them downwards, grab a ledge.
Rinse and repeat for hilarity and frustration at someone elses expense.
Will be interesting to see how it all works out.
What would be a cooler feature is if you were returning to a ledge, someone else is on it, you grab their legs and either jump up or pull them down for a suicide kill
