Offensive Combat Creators Abruptly Close Up Shop

A year ago, I raved about Offensive Combat, an old-school, free-to-play, browser-based competitive first-person shooter with a heaping helping of attitude. Today, with very little fanfare, developer U4ia Games closed.

The announcement came by way of a tweet last night, with a link pointing folks to an post on the company’s website.

It is with a heavy heart that we write this, but tomorrow, January 15, 2014, will be the last day of operations for U4iA Games.

Our sincere apologies to all of our fantastic, supportive fans over these last few years — we wish we could have done better for you. Thank you very much for your support and we hope to see you again on the other side.

Farewell,

— U4iA Games

What happened? Aside from a list of the members of the studio’s staff, no further information has been offered. As of this writing Offensive Combat is still in operation, and the in-game store seems to still be accepting purchases. There is no indication in the game’s forums that it will be shutting down, and no in-game messages addressing the closure of the studio.

We’ve reached out to U4ia Games for comment on the situation, and will update this post should we hear back.
