Google Glass isn’t just for hands-free computing and getting dirty looks from folks who think you’re filming them. Google thinks it’s a good gaming platform as well, and its engineers have built five simple games, hoping others will start thinking in that direction too.
This video, posted to the Google developers’ blog, shows the five augmented-reality minigames they’ve created: a balancing game, a skeet-shooting game, a bouncing tennis ball game, a memory/matcher game, and something that looks a little like Fruit Ninja Kinect.
Clay Shooter and Shape Splitter (the Fruit Ninja lookalike) seem to be the most dynamic to me, though again, you wear this out in public and people are gonna wondering who the weirdo is saying “pull!” and “bang!” Might not want to play that at a police station, school or when the president visits.
“We intentionally wanted games that are quick to get into when you have a few, free minutes and just as easy to get out of when you want to turn your attention back to reality,” Google writes on the mini-games’ page. The games are available for download if, for some reason, you have access to Google Glass already. It’s supposed to be available to consumers sometime later this year.
