Last month Square Enix announced an April 14 release date for the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy XIV, but that’s not the date players were waiting for. It’s almost beta time, kids, and the game is looking fantastic on PS4.
The PlayStation 3 version of the best MMO of 2013 is lovely and all, but compared to the PC version it looks like it’s had a few too many beers. The PlayStation 4 doesn’t look like it’ll have that problem, running crystal clear at 1080p.
So shiny. Not only will the PS4 version look better, it’s also packed with enhanced features, like mouse and keyboard support, use of the Dualshock 4’s touchpad and remote play on the PlayStation Vita.
Everyone with a PlayStation 4 will have access to the A Realm Reborn beta, the first phase of which runs February 22 through March 3. After that there will be a character wipe. Phase two runs Aprol 4 through April 7, with characters created during that phase being carried over into retail.
Owners of the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIV will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 version on April 11 for free. Note that upgrading means they can no longer play on the PS3 — playing on both consoles requires two copies of the game.
Check out the PlayStation Blog for more info on the impending test run. Looking forward to starting my Eorzea adventures all over again.

I would really like to get this but its 10 days after ESO, and I really don’t want to be paying for two mmo’s at the same time
well I hope this beta is better than the ESO beta. The only standout feature ESO has atm is the first person view. Everything else just screams generic MMORPG
Well, despite being a beta, you’re still going to be playing with PC and PS3 players playing the full game. The quests will most likely end at level 20 and the level cap will probably be either 20 or 35.

That’s a freaking long beta!
Best news of this is: “Play with keyboard and mouse”. Yeah I didn’t know that the PS4 would have support for that.
Also, I dont hear a lot of good reviews about it. The combat is slow and pvp boring.
