TV channels and video game franchises might seem like a weird thing to compare, but the unlikely pairs are exactly what make these wise cracks by Dorkly so clever.
It’s the sort of thing where you don’t need to watch anything on the channel referenced to know just what Dorkly is talking about — but its better if you do. I just wish that the God of War one had a reference to Girls, but ah well!

Personally I think Dorkly missed the mark on this one a bit…
AMC has multiple popular shows. Apart from Breaking Bad (which is hardly an old hit, it only ended last year), there’s The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Hell on Wheels, a few others that I can’t remember. I’ll admit I don’t watch much of their stuff but I know plenty of people that do.
HBO nothing but death and graphic nudity? Newsroom? Girls? Alright Girls might have death and graphic nudity, I have no idea.
Also Final Fantasy/CNN is ‘presitgious?’
They were, which is what I think they’re trying to get at… The current incarnations of those two are banking on people remembering how awesome they were, and hoping people stick with them based on that.
