The X-Wing miniatures game is almost the perfect tabletop experience. At least if you like Star Wars and fun things. About the only thing that could make it better would be to start introducing more units based on video game starfighters and oh what’s this?
Following on from the game’s homage to Dark Forces, the fourth series of X-Wing’s miniatures will continue plucking ships straight from Lucasarts’ catalogue of original Star Wars games.
First up is the Tie Defender, created by Lucasarts for 1994’s TIE Fighter. Combining the manoeuvrability of a TIE with the firepower of a Rebel ship, it’s overpowered as hell, which explains its high unit cost.
Another ship yanked from gaming is the TIE Phantom, which was created for 1995’s Rebel Assault II. It’s introducing cloaking powers to the game, which should be interesting/infuriating.
The two Rebel/Republic ships rounding out the update are the Z-95 Headhunter and E-Wing.

This looked fun but after seeing the price on the cute starfighters, I decided it’s too expensive a hobby.
