Pokémon Bank is now available on the Nintendo eShop, ending a delay more than a month long. The Bank allows players to store and manage up to 3000 pokémon online, even moving them between Pokémon X and Y.
The app is free to download and use beginning today through March 14. After that, a $US4.99 annual subscription fee will apply.
The Bank was supposed to have released two days after Christmas but a general outage affecting all of Nintendo’s online services put that on hold indefinitely. Pokémon Transporter, allowing players to move their pokémon collection from Pokemon Black and White and Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 was set to join it in December. No word on when it will be available.
The Pokémon Bank app is available in the 3DS eShop; it should be the first thing you see when you log in.

To get the pokemon transporter, you need to open the pokemon bank and follow instructions
It was released at the same time. You go into the Pokebank app with a copy of X or Y inserted/on the SD card, then in the main menu you have the option of downloading Poke Transport. It’ll take you to the eShop and a product page you can’t access any other way. Download it there, then head back to the main 3DS menu and you’ll find your Poke Transporter app ready to go.
To use it move the Pokemon on your copy of BW or B2W2 into the first box on your PC, save, then go back to the main menu and load up the Poke Transporter app. From there you can select which Pokemon from box 1 to send to your ‘Transfer Box’. After you’ve done that exit the app, put in your copy of X or Y, then load up the Poke Bank app and move the Pokemon out of your transfer box and into your X/Y boxes.
Also worth noting is that once you move a Pokemon in/out of the Poke Bank you’ll get a Celebi. After you’ve done that go to the Pokemon Link on your main menu in X and Y and you should be able to receive the Celebi gift straight to your active PC box. If you have any problems go to your Pokemon Link in X or Y and make sure that you don’t have any gifts awaiting reception.
For the Celebi you don’t even need to do that much really, just need to run the bank app twice (and x/y in-between). For just opening the bank once you’ll get to choose 100 Pokemiles or 10bp, second time you get the Celebi.
No choice on Nature/IV’s (although apparently 3 IV’s are perfect) but it does come in a Luxery ball with you as Original Trainer – so you can rename it =P
It’s also marked as a Kalos Pokemon which I found interesting. I should have noticed earlier with the Torchic, but I’d assumed Mystery Gift Pokemon wouldn’t get marked as Kalos bred/captured.
It was actually released here and in Europe about 2-3 days ago but better late then never I guess Kotaku.
Also for the transporter, you can only transfer pokemon from Box 1 in B/W/B2/W2. Unless I’m doing something wrong it transfers the whole box at once unless you’ve got illegal pokemon in there, then it’ll just leave them behind.
