RoboCop Is Throwing Beans At People In Tokyo

RoboCop Is Throwing Beans at People in Tokyo

Come quietly, or there will be beans. Well, there will be beans either way. Today, is Setsubun (節分) in Japan. It's a bean-throwing festival to cleanse evil and bring in good luck. People in Japan either attend Shinto shrines or Buddhist temples to throw beans, or at home, they throw beans at a family member wearing an oni (鬼) or "demon" mask.

As part of the promotion, RoboCop appeared at a Setsubun festival at Shibamata Taishakuten, a Buddhist temple in Tokyo. At the event, RoboCop threw "fortune beans" or "fuku mame" (副豆) and thanked everyone for their cooperation.

Below, you can see photos of the event from Japanese site Cinema Cafe.

I'm hoping that plastic monstrosity isn't an actual licensed replica of the suit cause honestly, from the country of Sentai and Kamen Rider... Damn that's fucking crappy.

The blue clothing some of the men are wearing remind me of the pointy shoulder pad things the Sith wear in The Old Republic

This, if anything else, makes me want to see the bRoboCop reboot less.

(the 'b' is intentional. Next time you watch Robocop, talk over every single line as though he's a drugged up frat-boy. Trust me, it's awesome! Halt, Bro! Dead or Alive, you're partying with me!)
