There have been reports of a new Tony Hawk game floating around the internet but the all-star skateboarder himself confirmed that it’s on the way. And it sounds like it’s being built primarily for mobile devices.
In an interview with Bloomberg, the legendary skater spoke about the next game that will bear his name, saying that “we have never had our own game in that space,” referring to the mobile landscape. Hawk’s game-related remarks start at about 4:15 in the video.
The last Hawk game for consoles was a HD re-release that pieced together parts of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2. Activision’s been the publisher of all the Tony Hawk games and they’ve steadily been building out a portfolio of mobile games that includes last year’s Call of Duty: Strike Team and three Skylanders games.
So, while the upcoming game may not be that return to consoles that some have been waiting for, it could wind up surprising folks if it’s any good. We’ve reached out to Activision for comment and will update this story if they reply.
Update: PR representatives for Activision have replied with the following:
Activision can confirm there is a Tony Hawk mobile game in development. The gameplay is all about tricks, using swipe maneuvers on the screen, and has the unmistakable look and feel of a Tony Hawk game.

Ahahahaa! When I first heard the announcement, like everybody else I didn’t care since those games had their time to shine and were milked before they truly died. But I was actually going to wait around for a trailer to see if it would blow me out of the water.
