I’m almost 100% sure that in the future all entertainment — video games, television, cinema — will just be replaced by a rotating series of GIFs. Stuck in a oxygen chamber eating Doritos with Mountain Dew for blood as stem cells constantly regenerate our organs into the vanishing point of infinity. This is the future. Might as well embrace it.
If so I want some of these GIFs on my playlists. They take iconic moments from some of the best movies ever made and recreate them in 8-bit video game form. Glorious.

Fight club one in particular is so great
All are great and immediately distinct as long as you are at least vaguely aware of the source material (I’ve never seen Nacho Libre but still figured it out), but Fight Club was my favourite.
Whose favourite movie is Nacho Libre?
Mine!
Many of us fought and died in the Great Browser War of the early 21st century. We thought we’d beaten the .gif. Why must you bring it back, Kotaku? Do you hate freedom?
Man, they’re going to resurrect [blink] and [marquee] next, aren’t they?
I hate browser clogging gifs as much as the next person, but in a story that’s about animated gifs I think they can be forgiven.
gifs actually fit the context of this post. And these ones aren’t hideously distracting like most of the recent gif heavy posts.
Most of them are also barely 50kB in size as well, except one that is 450kB.
I hope they bring back frames. I love frames.
Woop! District 9. Loved that movie so much.
Sneaky fokkin prawn
Too 8 bit. Someone should make a gamify filter for photoshop.
