This Week In Games: On Like Donkey Kong (Country: Tropical Freeze)

Today is the day the levee breaks. Friends, there are a lot of video games coming out this week. Personally, I am super mega hyped for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, despite its terrible name. Are you guys and girls picking anything up this week?

As always, shout at me in the comments if I missed anything!

99 Levels To Hell (PC)

What is it? A rogue-like platform shooter.
Should you care? Looks alright, super difficult. I think this will find an audience.

Banished (PC)

What is it? It’s a city building strategy game of sorts.
Should you care? Man, I’m not sure. There seems to be a lot games like this on PC.

BeatBlasters III (PC)

What is it? A platformer with rhythm elements.
Should you care? I love this concept, but the fact that it’s at number three and nobody is raving about it worries me.

C-RUSH (PC)

What is it? An old school shooter. Basically it’s like R-Type. This is a good thing.
Should you care? I don’t know if you should care, but you might want to investigate!

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (PS Vita)

What is it? This is a game that straddles genres and has an insane, completely unmarketable Japanese name.
Should you care? Apparently it’s sort of really quite good actually. You should probably just read our review.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U)

What is it? It’s Retro Studios’ latest Donkey Kong game.
Should you care? Retro don’t know how to make bad video games. My guess is that this is completely spectacular.

Journal (PC)

What is it? A hand-painted, narrative driven adventure game about a troubled girl dealing with childhood.
Should you care? I want to say this looks pretentious, but I think more games about different things and different issues are totally important. This looks gorgeous.

Major Mayhem (PC)

What is it? Arcade cover shooter type thing that’s inspired by Time Crisis and has the best art style.
Should you care? It looks so great I just want to totally recommend it.

NASCAR ’14 (PC)

What is it? Bloody NASCAR. Are there any fans of this sport in Australia?
Should you care? I’d be surprised if you cared.

Rambo: The Video Game (360/PS3)

What is it? It’s Rambo. But yeah… don’t get your hopes up. It’s rubbish.
Should you care? Nope.

Rayman Legends (Xbox One/PS4/PC)

What is it? Its Rayman Legends on next-gen consoles (if we’re still calling them next-gen).
Should you care? I honestly can’t see how this can look better than it does on current gen. No need to upgrade this one really.

Strider (PC)

What is it? It’s like an actual new iteration of Strider. I forgot this series even existed.
Should you care? The original is obviously this super classic. Don’t know much about this one.

Ys: Memories of Celceta (PS Vita)

What is it? Another JRPG for the PS Vita. Wow, it’s really becoming the goto console for JRPGs these days…
Should you care? Not really my speciality, but apparently this is really good.
