Disney plans to lay off hundreds of people in its interactive-media department this week, the Wall Street Journal reports today. Disney Interactive has 3000 people, and includes the social game developer Playdom, which will reportedly be part of these layoffs.
In January of 2013, Disney shut down Epic Mickey developer Junction Point, and that April, it closed LucasArts.
The WSJ notes that Disney will continue working on its successful toy-based Disney Infinity series, and that it is currently developing versions in the Marvel and Star Wars universes.
