Seven Minutes Of Uncomfortably Close Calls

And there is only one thing we say to Death: 'Not today'.

'Close-call' videos — the ones where someone narrowly avoids a disaster of some kind — may induce anxiety, but that's exactly what makes them so thrilling to watch. Uniformedia has compiled some of the best close calls in the last year, and you can watch them all in one cool video.

I've had a few close calls growing up — mostly, cars almost hitting me and that sort of thing. Once I almost fell off the back of a speeding truck (it was a third world country, that was how most people travelled). And every time a close call happened, I'd go from 'I feel lucky to be alive' to 'holy shit I hope it's not like those Final Destination movies, where I was supposed to have died just then and didn't and so now EVERY SINGLE THING will try to kill me in horrifying ways because it's the only way to restore order to the world.'

Uhhhh. Yeah.

What about you, ever had a close call? Or do you have a favourite close call video or GIF? Feel free to share in the comments!

I think the most amazing thing is how few fucks were given by most of the people involved or witnessing.

Yeah especially that chick at 5:30 who was completely in the wrong. Just went "oh the truck nearly killed me when I walked right in front of him". Then just keeps walking as if that never happened, it even looked like she stared him down as if it was his fault lol. Some crazy stuff in there.

Yeah that's what I was thinking 'surely these people are due for a darwin award already..'

The majority of the clips in that video were from Russia, where they seriously don't give a fuck about what happens on the roads.

It's a natural reaction to an extreme situation. The brain will have subconsciously acknowledged what just happened, but the person will feel indifference as a coping mechanism to prevent them from being overwhelmed by stress and anxiety.

90% of that video is people being complete twats and/or speeding/not driving to the road conditions.

    Death says 'soon'.

That 3rd vid with the boulder landing on the road was in Taiwan. Mate who lives over their often uploads heaps of those, as landslides are common. We even rode through one a few years back up in the Taiwanese mountains with rocks still falling during a heavy downpour.

And that's why 'zebra' strips (random pedestrian right of way crosswalks) are fucking stupid. Because it teaches people not to look when they're crossing. Then they go to America and almost get run over because they're standing in the fucking road.

No, that's why assholes who don't look where they're going when they're driving are fucking stupid.

Zebra crossings mean STOP, not SPEED THROUGH. We even have zig zag lines leading up to zebra crossings to let drivers know there is one coming up so there is literally NO excuse for drivers not stopping at a zebra crossing.

I'm sick of nearly being run over at every crossing because some idiot isn't paying attention OR they do see me and try to speed up to get across the crossing before i do, nearly taking me out in the process.

I've never noticed zig zag lines. I'll have to look. Growing up in a place where cars have the right of way, you learn to look before you step in the street, or at least I did. Transition from US to AU in that regards was way safer than AU to US where it would be a surprise if you step out into a crosswalk expecting traffic to bend to your will and get run over by a hummer on 24"s.
