Late last week EA and Respawn announced that Australia and New Zealand was getting its very own Titanfall servers and we all rejoiced. It was a way faster than expected solution for something that was about to become a problem. So I thought I’d throw out the question: how is everyone finding the new servers?
My hunch is that everything is running super sweet and smooth because, if it wasn’t, my inbox would probably be lighting up with emails from folks who couldn’t get online, or still suffered from lag.
The one exception seems to Optus customers. Some of you guys still can’t get online. Just wanted to let you know that I’m still chasing answers from Optus about this situation. Hopefully they’ll get back to me soon.
Anywa — really keen to hear how you all went: any problems, great success? Let us know in the comments below.

Getting pings of between 10-25. Not a single moment’s lag since they went live, not a single dropped game.
85 – 140
It’s alright, though I find I get better pings with the SEA servers being that I’m from Perth and the AUS Server’s are located over east 🙁
Damn. I wonder whether it makes much difference though, since I’d been playing on US West at like 160 and couldn’t really notice a problem.
I’m in Tassie finding I’m getting around 60-70ms on Voda MBB and it’s incredibly smooth. Prior to that best I was getting was 240-300ms with the overseas servers, which kinda felt like playing Quakeworld on dial-up.
Hasn’t been too bad but the rated pings on Friday night were up at 200ms, since it has gone down a bit each day to 60ms, now steady 53 (according to the main menu screen anyway). Did have a couple of games lag out and crash my party back to the menu twice. Generally been really great though
The first day on PC I had a lot of issues finding a game. Since then it has been fine. Not a single game with a ping above 40.
Quite a few lobby cretins, but that’s not the servers fault. 😀
Awesomness. Pure awesomness.
A few hiccups along the way, but generally it’s been a great experience. Constantly getting about 33ms, so much better than the 140-160 I was getting from SEA.
I get a great connection when I can connect, half the time I get stuck on the loading screen though (Optus customer).
yeah no worries for me. ping is normally about 50 on my shitting internet and no dropped games
First match on aus servers 15kills 0 deaths, had no probs since, was almost worth getting the extra practise on 150ms.
My player KD has gone up to 2.2 avg 😀
just checked mine, 3.1 at rank 46
Is that vs player
ah not sure? was just the top one?
The second box is Vs player.
noooooooooo!!!
Lifetime average 1.1, last 10 games average 2.4 🙁 the damage has been done.
I love it how my ping on my Aus server is 65535… not sure if glitch or something, but im with optus and my internet is working fine. Its really annoying…
I still get dropped from matches regularly, but the experience is a damn side better than what it was on Thu and Fri night. Loving the game though.
Mostly get some really good connections however had a few games of bad lag yesterday. Reported it to Respawn etc with no response but came good after half an hour or so. Playing on XB1.
As Sabrescene said, fantastic when you can get a game (usually outside of peak periods), between 3pm and Midnight though, you’ve got a snowballs chance in hell.
Optus Customer in Melbourne.
How the hell did they go from MW2 to this!? I’m really tempted to pick up an Xbone for Australian servers.
I must be the exception. I join the AU servers, get about 25ms but the game is so so laggy. I join the South East servers, get 150ms, and no problem. NBN network and all. I dunno what’s going on…
Been loving it. It’s a little choppy at times but that’s entirely on my ISP.
Although I will say it’s a pain in the arse that they do that whole MMO thing of ‘you have to be connected to the server to see anything past the start screen’. Timing out in the private lobby is just dumb.
pings are good from brissy between 20-40, connections are MOSTLY stable, the odd “reconnecting to server” msg for a second or so (multiple people in multiple states while playing, not just me)
My biggest issue is the same thing as with BF4 the “netcode” while good, i still have issues every 5 games or so where i’ll unload at point blank with an SMG get multiple hit markers but the enemy will take no damage, then when i watch the kill cam, i see every bullet missed. (while my gun barrel is basically touching them)
As well as the being shot behind walls and around corners, i have shadowplay recordings of my being WELL around a building, but on the other players kill cam im still about 20 meters from where i am on my screen.
other than that the game is a hell of a lot of fun.
30ms pings on average, it’s a lot more competitive with everyone benefiting from it tho
Been great so far! Averaging a ping of 20-30 but been as low as 5!
Anyone else getting issues with the AI skipping around the map like this – http://1drv.ms/Oqmitj
Its driving me mad. It looks like packet loss but only with the AI. Pilot V Pilot interactions are near perfect. Its not my internet as i have no issues with other games and im getting 25ms to the Beta Australia server…. 🙁
Noticed the same thing on my end too (playing from Melbourne on optus). Doesn’t really bother me, but it can be distracting from time to time.
Yes. Noticed this last night. Was happening on the aus server as well as the SEA server. Annoying but not game breaking
Funny thing is, it doesnt happen for me on the SEA servers but the other players lag. I think its having bandwidth issue’s, not uploading enough data to the server perhaps? Im not a tech guru so that might be a silly theory.
Same issue here lads. Though it’s a small gripe when were all getting decent ping response. Haven’t had above 35ms since the Aussie servers went online, K/D average has gone up considerably.
Yeah – I’m having a really good time with the game. No server complaints.
One of the things I’m finding interesting is that people who use CoD/Battlefield tactics get hammered. I ran into a six person team last night, and I managed to take out the entire side in one room in a single glorious death from above attack. They were all covering each other as though I was going to come at them from the same height. They were all around level 25, so it seems as though they haven’t quite unlearnt their CoD strategies.
can you elaborate? I haven’t picked it up yet (it’s in the mail). How does it play differently to COD? Is it just due to the vertical movement?
It’s much faster and more vertical, both in terms of the basic controls and the movement. You see people jumping around during gunfights in other modern shooters, but obviously its much higher in Titanfall. It can be helpful just to jump out of the action rather than behind cover. It’s also possible to surprise people by coming at them running on a wall, rather than where they would expect.
The really nice thing is that it makes camping really tough (which is further exacerbated by cloaking).
I think I had one lag spike, but I could also be wrong about that. Performance has been great.
Been getting between 20 and 40 havnt had a single lag issue and im an optus customer
I average around 37-40 ping, which is about what I got with COD-BLOPS2 and was still very playable. I get connection issues every now and again, and last night the AI mooks were rubber banding like crazy but the other players weren’t.
From Perth it still uses the SEA servers. Get about 80 ping but it is still playable. Had a blast playing last night. Calling my Titan down on an enemy Titan and destroying it brought me so much joy. I did get kicked once and it complained about renewing an Origin ticket or some shit. I was really cursing Origin at that point.
I’m playing from South Sydney and got 33ms all weekend. When it’s good, it’s really good and that’s 95% of the time. However, I had one dropped game and a few games where other players on my team looked like they were lagging about all over the place for short periods of times.
South Sydney as well. 30-33ms at all times, no dropped games.
Not many people feel like teamwork, though. Origin name GreatestPokedad for anyone who wants to actually do some team play.
Yeah I didn’t notice much in the way of team work so it was really rewarding teaming up with a couple of mates on XBL and running around together in Titans!
We had an titanfall Lan over the weekend https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=C4F659D2895251BC!740&authkey=!AM54_tzEiSjm3JI&v=3&ithint=photo%2c.jpg
when we had 8 of us on the same connection (100mb fibre) we were getting 68ms each
My ping times average 5, I haven’t seen it go above 10 yet. I didn’t really notice any lag when playing in the asian servers, so there really isn’t much noticeable change for me, but localised servers are always a good thing!
Playing from Brisbane on Optus cable, had 33ms over the weekend game went really that was with two of us using my connection, one hardwired and one WiFi. I downloaded it from Origin and was getting speeds up to 15 mb/s.
Playing Titanfall on a 60″ is awesome though hard as there is so much you need to look at. One of the best games I have played.
Generally around 20ms. I wish rounds went longer though. Annoying how you can’t have extended ticket games.
Being in WA, the SEA servers are actually the same if not better pings for me. A lot of people I know have picked up the game due to Aussie servers being around, so at least that’s a benefit.
cant access a game for more than 30 seconds and all my audio stutters. so going great :-/
its been pretty good but yesterday I was in a few matches that the lag was unplayable bad everyone had one bar of connection reload sequences playing over and over and the like, just horrible, joined on SEA and worked fine,
Been a pretty much flawless experience. Getting a consistent 30ms ping. Compared to the 160-200ms ping I was getting, it’s night and day.
So grateful to Respawn for pushing so hard to get *something* in place for Australia.
A few hiccups on Friday where the server disappeared at night and some jerky server during peak hours. One game I had around late night Saturday and the server was acting up. It was practically rubber banding every second and other players had to leave to join another server.
Other than that it was a pretty smooth ride. I can finally kill with smart pistol.
getting a fairly consistent 55 or so ping (I live in the sticks though lol). I occasionally have trouble finding a server, but if I cancel and retry it generally finds one pretty quick. Other than that all good. Great to see they listened and gave us what we needed 🙂
I had some problems with the campaign mode, almost constant lag. But normal multiplayer is fine.
I’m still getting better (lower) pings from S.E. Asia servers than the Beta Aust. 63 Vs. 180
On PC in Sydney, reporting in that the pings and general performance is really good. No issues yet.
Optus cable in Melbourne
I had a lot of problems connecting but the last couple days I haven’t. May just be different times connecting.
The game runs really choppy on my end. It still feels quite laggy and the choppyiness isn’t related to performance on my end. Even at 60fps solid it gets choppy.
The result is, the game is essentially just a mindless, shoot and home they die and not you. There’s no ability to play with much skill.
No ability to play with much skill? I find that rather unlikely in a parkour-oriented shooter. You just sound like someone who’s been on the receiving end and you’re finding the game rather frustrating – but there’s not a game out there that was built for everyone.
It’s because the game doesn’t run smoothly. You just have to hope for the best, kill cam replays display a lot of disconnect.
It’s worse than BF4, that’s laggy but at least smooth.
Definitely something on your end. I tried Titanfall beta on my PC and I was actually having problem with the choppiness, we may be experiencing the same issue. 60fps but choppy. I upgraded to new graphic driver and it helped a little but still choppy. I was not happy with it and decided to play on X1 instead.
Not sure the reason 🙁
I get a lot of choppy frames too. Get’s really annoying tracking moving targets and shooting from a distance on smaller targets. I think the culprit is the source engine.
Everything is up to date, it’s a good computer.
Here’s a tip I use. When the map loads and you’re in the dropship, go into video options and switch shadows to medium then press apply. Then immediately switch shadows back to high and press apply.
Apparently the game has issues where it’s not using the full potential of the CPU. I started off having to run textures on high and no AA to max everything and 8xmsaa using this trick.
Another top is don’t use in-game vsync. It’s totally broken at the moment.
Working quite fine; 25-35 ping from Sydney.
I don’t think it’s specific to the Aussie server, but occasionally (usually during american ‘peak’ hour) when I click Play from the main menu, no matter what data centre I’m connected to, I get stuck on the loading screen until it times out. No problems ‘connecting’ to the server, but no reason as to why it just seems to load infinitely. Only happens every once in a rare while, but there it is.
well…i experienced my first lot of lag last night while playing with some mates. It was horrific. I literally would take the same step fifty times before progressing forward to the second step…however, im not angry, because i know it wasn’t servers fault. I’m getting ping at 45 (i live in Toowoomba), but the friend i connected with…my lord…i knew he was the problem straight away.
I haven’t had a chance to play since the Aus servers went up, but I’ve been reading about a LOT of AI glitches and slow load times on the Aus server. Bots skipping across the map while people have four bars of ping for example.
I’m in Victoria on Optus the terrible.
I’ve only managed to join one online game so far. Can only play in evening cause of work, which is when Optus seems at it’s worst.
Telstra Cable in Melbourne
Server pings around the 25-25ms range which is great and playing solo always find an australian server with 4-5 bar connections. find the occasional lag and WTF moments but generally good.
HOWEVER if i am partied up with a couple of mates we only find 1-2 bar connections, i presume that means we are being pushed onto the SEA servers and that is where all the trouble starts with massive lag spikes and frame rate drops. I hope this only happens because there isn’t enough room on the australian servers for all the people playing and the matchmaking can’t find room on one team for 3-6 players who are partied up…….
Aside from not being able to connect half the time (Optus) I have had no issues when I actually get into a game.
Although when I join a game (in progress, not from the lobby) I have 1 bar and after a minute it increases to 4-5 bars, not sure why the delay
im over in perth and i played a lot over the weekend i was on the SEA servers as i was getting pings somewhere between 60-80 where as the aus were 80-100. it was pretty smooth though it was horrible for about the first 30 seconds of every game i played then it smoothed out
last night for some reason i was forced onto the aus servers and it was laggy as all hell.
i expect that it was more due to playing in peak hour than anything else though. whihc is unfortunate as thats really the only time i can play during the week
Yeah, i’m a optus cable user in Melbourne.
The servers are great! When they work that is. Me along with many others are only able to connect to the Australian servers, actually any server for that matter between 2:00am and 2:00pm ever day. Every single day at about 2:00pm i get kicked off and unable to connect to the server. The game just gets stuck at the ship loading screen for about 10 minutes before it comes back and says unable to connect to server.
Optus have known about this problem since the beta was released and its disappointing i can’t play this game whenever i want. Because i absolutely love the game.
Like i said though between 2:00am and 2:00pm everything works fine and i get about 30ms to the servers with no problems at all.
They are good, but my connection to the SEA Servers is still better than the Australian servers. They are not run on Azure though so that may change when they get Azure going in AU.
on the first day i couldn’t connect till about 7pm but since then its been good 20-30 ms usually. no dropped games so far
Im on optus, and had issues connecting a few times. A complete reset of my xbox one worked. It wasn’t just the Aussie server I had issues with. However when I did work, had a latency of 40 to 50ms here in Melbourne.
Still good!
i can play at all in the night. i just cant connect im on telstra and i would get a refund on the game but i got it at a EB
Well despite the problems some people have been facing (those with Optus as their ISP) pretty good. Minimal problems regarding the ‘infinite’ spaceship loading screen but a couple days following the release these were fixed.
Was fine for the first week. had average 60 ping here in Perth. Then Sunday comes and its all turned to S&^*. Now im getting 200 ping on both SEA and OZ servers. Im with iinet theyre pretty good I dont understand why this is happening.
Sunday 23rd and the aussie server reports ping of 30ms (shown in the data center list). However the game is incredibly laggy. If i pull up player list while playing everyones connection is on 1 bar. I reverted back to using asian data center (ping 130ms) and it plays smoothly….go figure…anyone else having troublethis weekend with the server?
