That’s ok, I didn’t want the game anyway. Now gimme that tank dog!
See, the Panzerhund Edition (Panzerhund is my favourite new word) is not a collectors edition of Wolfenstein: The New Order. It is a collection of game paraphernalia, which conveniently comes with an empty steel case where you can put your game once up buy it separately.
Priced at $US100 and limited to 5,000 pieces worldwide, the Wolfenstein: The New Order Panzerhund Edition gives the series’ most dedicated fans the following, all packed inside a vintage footlocker-style box:
- An 8 inch, fully articulated hand-painted Panzerhund statue and base.
- A classified folder containing salvaged secret war documents including maps, case files, letters, secret documents, blueprints and an x-ray for the game’s hero, B.J. Blazkowicz.
- A set of 14 full-colour ‘vintage’ postcards from Wolfenstein’s alternate 1960’s, bound in a display book.
- Three embroidered patches and a replica dog tag.
- An exclusive Steelbook case to house your copy of the game.
For Australians, it doesn’t look like local retailers are selling the Panzerhound edition. I guess we’re stuck with the actual game.
Note: If your statue is fully articulated, it is not a statue, it is an action figure, just as a non-articulated action figure is a Skylander. I mean statue.
Look at that adorable little guy. He’s more interesting than the game anyway.

It’s more a subtraction than an edition

im german and the “word” “panzerhund” doesnt make sense at all. u cant combine those 2 words in german like that
That’s OK, I’ll just import it.
*That’s OK, I’ll just buy it in a couple months on Steam for a buck fifty.
Why is everyone so down about this game?
wtf is the point of not including the game? this is just boneheads
platform agnostic bonus content – Argonauts did this back when it came out – a big box of collector’s content with a DVD-case sized gap so any standard edition of the game could go in depending on platform purchase. It’s actually a shame that more games don’t do it this way, since PC gamers then wouldn’t have to keep missing out on fancy figurines and the like.
If the game is cross platform you don’t have to buy a specific CE. That, and they save money by releasing one CE and not three or four different versions, and make money when people buy it in addition to the game.
This, which is mentioned on the site itself and makes a whole load of sense:
I missed the part where it was articulated, and only saw “statue”. That makes it a whole bunch cooler.
Ah I see now. I suppose I’m just one of those guys who don’t see this kind of material as separate from the game and that it should be packaged in the same box. Also that seems sneaky to me as it implies that a set with game is simply unavailable without pre-order, rustles my jimmies.
Well, it *isn’t* available through any means other than pre-order at the moment 😛
The implication there is more that this is the sort of thing that would appeal to someone who is excited enough to have pre-ordered the game already, and serves as a warning not for them to cancel it in place of getting this because then they’ll be waiting for no game. This is just a separate product, you don’t even need to purchase the game to get it. Pretty good idea, actually.
I don’t see how this being a separate product is a good thing… that means you would have to buy the game and these accessories separately for well over $100
Welcome to the new wave of “collectors editions” lots of fancy crap with game sold seperately!
I sooooooo can’t wait for this to take off with gaming retailers /sarcasm
Already ordered mine, plus art book, plus special edition game from EB. Not that I’m excited for this game or anything… 😛
US$100 + US$75 S&H?! I’m paying nearly as much just to get the game to Australia!
Anyone found a cheaper price?
That appears to be the only option. $75 for shipping is ridiculous. In a similar situation, I was keen to buy the GTA III limited edition Claude figurine, but shipping was over $100. Close to the cost of the product itself. Sense prevailed, but I still wish I’d bought it….
plus shipping it works out to be pretty much standard price for a collector’s edition, mind you those collector’s editions usually also come with a game 😛
GIZE HAI GIZE! $100 buys you the following
* A box!
* some pictures
* some postcards
*scout badges
*an empty cd case
*a mass produced action figure
that… that… that’s value right there!
$100USD or $5000 AUD
