Deviant Artist and Halo fan Scourge07 combined his penchant for art with his passion for Bungie shooters to create a series of wonderful minimalist posters, one for each game in the series.
Well, each core game at least. I do not see a Halo Wars entry, nor do I see one for Spartan Assault, the top-down shooter for Windows Phone and Xbox Live. Genre-bending side stories don’t deserve minimalist posters. The core series, however, is quite lovely when stripped to its bare essence.
Check out larger versions of the first three posters below, and then hop over to Scourge07’s gallery (via Reddit) for the final three, and to bug him to order prints we can buy.

Very nice,
I think i detect new office art!
This ‘minimalist poster’ thing has been done to death recently and it clashes with what’s going on in the bottom. He just stripped the logo and Master Chief silhouette from official art, filled them with solid colours and superimposed them over his own design. That last one particularly bugs me with the narrow ass buffer between the gun barrel and planet surface. There is good Halo art out there but this is not it.
Wouldn’t have been able to follow the ‘rule of thirds’ as easily then, but yeah the Halo 3 one bugs me too.
Being a graphic designer, this bugs me to no end. He could have followed rule of thirds had he just shrunk the size of the chief and the logo… Would have given it a much greater sense of scale/proportion. He almost had it in the first one… almost.
Heh. Funny you should say that: the first one is probably my ‘favourite’ (the only one I’d consider hanging somewhere), thanks to the smoother integration of the elements. There’s just something so ‘choppy’, almost cut-and-paste about starkness of the division between upper/lower elements of the others that makes them feel tacked-on. That said, have you seen the rest of the guy’s album? I think these are a first attempt in that style, not from an uber pro, more an amateur trying neat things. (So I don’t wanna be too critical. Especially not being a professional, myself.)
Totally agree with you and good analysis of the work. Elements that are arranged without proper negative/white space gives a very awkward feeling to the audience (hence the above comments of us feeling a bit agitated :P) Nah, i haven’t seen any of his other work but I can appreciate a decent effort!
Relax, guy. NOT A BIG DEAL.
Spartan Assault and Halo Wars anyone?…
