What Are the Most Nonsensical Japanese Game Titles?

Over the past week, I've been playing a Japanese dating sim by the name of New Love Plus+. And, as ostensibly odd as that title is, it is far from the oddest Japanese game title I have come across.

Now, while I could just list all of the crazy Japanese game titles I know, I'm sure you have your own picks for the weirdest one in existence. So, let's make this a community effort.

But before we do, let's lay down some ground rules for how we are going to do this.

Guidelines

To keep this list easy to read and enjoy, let's all follow these rules.

1) Japanese game names only: Yes, there are many non-Japanese games with equally absurd titles; but for this list, let's keep the focus on Japan.

2) Please follow this format, including bold text:

Game: The name of the game Platform: Which console the game is on Why the Title Is So Odd: Why this is one of the weirdest Japanese game titles

3) Only post each game once: Be sure to check if your pick already has a post in the comments. If it already has one, feel free to reply and add your own "Why the Title Is So Odd" comment; but don't make a new, independent post.

4) Don't write non-entry comments on this post: Instead, comment on others' entries, if you have something to say about them.

5) Feel free to enter more than one game title! There are lots of weird Japanese game titles out there; give them all a little love.

Alright, let's get to it! But as we do, it's important to remember that armed with only a foreign language dictionary, any of us would be likely to devise similarly odd titles in a non-native language. So as weird as these titles sound to you or me, remember that they are, in many cases, nothing more than innocent translation mistakes.

Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel for PS3
Pretty obvious why the titles is weird. It's just sound mashed up together with no meaning. How do you even pronounce it anyway?

      Copypasta quote from reps:

"Break down for Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel:

      'Qoga' means "finale" or 'termination.'
'Knell' is like a chime that signals the passing of someone or something.
'Ar Ciel' is a name of a world.
'Ar Tonelico' is an artificial world tree (Yggdrasill)."

So yeah, it's weird... but actually does make more sense than a lot of the other examples.

      I'd say it's pronounced like "R Toe-ne-lick-o Koga Nell of R Si-el"

The words are from the fabricated language of the game's universe. Ar Tonelico means 'the only divine tree' and is an enormous tower in which the first game takes place. Qoga is the hymmnos word for 'finale' as in the last piece of music in a series that is all about music. Knell is a real word meaning the sound of a funeral bell. Ar Ciel is the planet on which Ar Tonelico takes place.
The weird thing is that the 'Qoga' was slapped on only for western releases, in Japan, it's just 'Ar Tonelico III'. well actually it's full Japanese title is "Ar tonelico III: The Girl's Song that Pulls the Trigger of World's Demise"

What's wrong with Mobile Suit Gundam vs Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme VS. Full Boost?

    Game: Kamen Rider Battride War
    Platform: Playstation 3
Why the Title Is So Odd: What the heck is a "Battride"?

What you do with the Batmobile?

I usually just look at it, but come Arkham Knight I can drive it!

Even with that obvious mention, the word "Battride" is not even a word; not in English or Japanese.

its one of them moments where they mix 2 English words together to make it sound cool
either that" battle riders " would be the answer you are looking for

Game: Persona 4 the Ultimax Ultra Suplex hold
    Platform: ps3, 360
Why the Title Is So Odd: They make up a word, then add a random wrestling move that no one uses to the name...

Game: Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland Adventure
    Platform: Nintendo DS
Why the Title Is So Odd: Tingle is somehow popular enough in Japan to get his own game.

It also saw an English release in Europe.

Sadly there was no localisation of the second game.

Lol, I bought the second game in Japan for $8, still haven't got around to playing it, though...

I sort of want it but I figured with the inability to moonspeak I wouldn't get very far :P

Wonder if there's a fan translation for it...

    Game: Cho Aniki
    Platform: Varied
Why the title is so odd: Translated, it's "Super Big Brother" and if you know a little Japanese and a bit about their humour and culture then the title does make sense. For a complete foreigner though, the translation conjures up an image of a Super Mario Brothers style game but instead you have scantily clad muscle men in a side scrolling shooter full of homo-erotic overtones.

I'd like to submit a clever Japanese title because most people will never realise the fantastic wordplay that got lost in translation. Atelier Escha and Logy. Where's the wordplay you ask? Exactly. The original title in Japanese is Atelier Escha to Logy, which, when you put it all together, can be read as Atelier Eschatology which describes some of the themes that the current arc is exploring.

I remember looking through videogame shops in Japan; names like Lucky Star Moe Drill and Tech Romancer are just amazing. Nothing will beat Spanky's Quest, though!

    Game: Irritating Stick
    Platform: PlayStation
Why the Title Is So Odd: hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha. Apparently, irritating is supposed to describe the actual carnival game that it is based off, where you get a small electric shock if you fail the game. I really don't think that the name helps sell the game, though,

Game: Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
Platform: Super Famicom, Sega Saturn, PlayStation, Virtual Console, PlayStation Portable
Why the Title Is So Odd: I don't think this needs an explanation.

Game:Ojou-sama no DokiDoki Daisakusen - Norowareta Aka no Yakata
    Platform: PC
Why the Title Is So Odd: no idea really its just really long
either that it is a Japanese doujin game that i happen to have

Google translates that as "House of red Cursed - pounding Battle of like - young lady"

      Sounds a little salacious.

Game: Exceed 3rd - Jade Penetrate Black Package
    Platform: PC
Why the Title is So Odd: Need i say anything? Jade penetrate black package?? And it's not even an adult game, it's a bullethell shooter!

    Mario brothers.
Why? If they're the Mario brothers, Mario is their last name. Mario Mario and Luigi Mario.

I once worked on a racing game that was released in Japan with the title "Simple DS Volume 13: Race Through Crazy Weather The Storm Drift Rally"
