An Oculus Rift Game That Let Me Be Neo From The Matrix

An Oculus Rift Game That Let Me Be Neo From The Matrix

Everybody has dreams. One of my dreams involves me dodging bullets in slow-mo like a badass. Yesterday at E3, the Oculus Rift and a game called Superhot allowed me to live that dream.

We swung by Oculus VR to check out the latest game demos for their new Devkit 2 headset. One of the three demos we played was for Superhot, a game that revolves around moving down a hallway and dodging bullets. The twist is that as you move forward or side to side, time also moves forward, but if you stand still, time slows to a crawl.

It’s a cool game on a regular screen, but it’s much, much cooler in VR. You can tilt your head to the left and right, bobbing and weaving through bullets like a running back. You can also stop and turn your head to follow a bullet as it inches past you in slow-mo, and when you do this, you will feel like you are in a fucking action movie.

Check out this video of me playing the game. I die very quickly at first, but after that things get dramatic. Take that angry orange dudes! You can’t stop me! I know kung-fu!
