While I’d rather watch a documentary that followed the fabled fighting franchise from birth, through its awkward teenage years into adulthood, Smosh’s Honest Game Trailer for Mortal Kombat will do in a pinch.

With a new Mortal Kombat recently announced for 2015, now’s the perfect time to look back on a series that started strong, self-destructed and then made a triumphant comeback. Things got a bit goofy in the Mortal Kombat universe for a while, and Smosh doesn’t even touch on the live action television show or the horrific cartoon series.

  • Steady on sailor, that cartoon was more than just horrific, it couldn’t work out it’s intended audience. If it was aiming for people who played MK then it was to childish, but it was to rapey and adult for children, and it was to wimpy for teens, it had no demographic.
