If Anything Will Sell Me On The Oculus Rift, It’s Virtual Totoro

If Anything Will Sell Me On The Oculus Rift, It’s Virtual Totoro

Fresh from recreating the boiler room scene from Spirited Away for the Oculus Rift, game designer Nick Pittom tackles an even more magical scene from director Hayao Miyazaki’s classic work — the bus stop sequence from My Neighbour Totoro. This is what I’d buy an Oculus Rift for.

Having spent most of my life as a pretty tall person, the chance to virtually stare up at the beloved spirit creature as if I were a child again sounds like a wondrous experience. Just watch the expression on Road To VR‘s reviewer’s face as he looks up at the magical creature for the first time. That’s joy right there.

Read all about how Pittom and animator Keith Sizemore crafted the Totoro demo over at his blog.
